Bit of a rant.....

I bought a motorcycle cover through Amazon. It came today and I really like it. Went to order a couple more and the freaking price is $4 and change more today than what I paid 4 days ago.

$28.89 vs. $24.55

So just out of principle, I ordered a different one that was only $15.29. In fact I ordered 2 of them.

An extra $4 isn't going to break the bank but I feel like I'm being played as a return customer and if true, that's no bueno....

You could literally park a VW bug on this, it's built so stout (3/4" cherry plywood and solid cherry framing)

I cut it down to a little wider than half of original size, painted it in my 'official garage colors" (Craftsman tool cabinet grey and red, ha ha) and put it in the corner as a drill press stand. (I decided against using one of the doors but I can always make that mod if dust and dirt become a problem inside the carcass. I figured an open front would be more convenient. Time will tell.)

It took an effort to decide to paint over the cherry wood, but I finally relented, told myself that it would have just ended up in the landfill if I hadn't of repurposed it.

Very cool project.

Dust and dirt will not be a problem. The first spider that moves in on the other hand will justify installing the door.

Thanks Bill! I've always wanted a garage that felt like a happy place to hang out. After being here 2 1/2 years..we're moving next week :-/. Hopefully the next place won't take too long to set up nicely.

I’m thinking about it. The last trailer I had made and it was the same dimensions as a U-Haul. So, I’m potentially looking for something short to haul my E46.

Well done Michael! You'll pass that down to your son or daughter. I see a nice Kennedy triple combo as well. Quality all over the place.

Went to an all-timer estate sale in the little town of West Columbia, TX. Ended up with the following:

Kurt 688 machinist vise - $60
Darex Drill Bit Sharpener - $50
Aloris BXA tool post and 7 holders - $80
Starrett 797 digital caliper - $18
TECO FM100 VFD - $80
Assortment of import and Federal dial indicators - $4 each
Kurt D6 swivel base - $28

I got screwed out of another Darex sharpener. The deal was that they had two part tags on some of the bigger items. You were supposed to tear off the bottom tag and when you were finished with your shopping, you take the tags to the check out, pay and then the workers will load you up. I tore the bottom tag off the other Darex, but some a-hole tore off the whole tag and took the machine up to the check out and told the cashier that there was no tag on there!! So they sold it to him and he left. I got the last laugh though as they put all the tool holders in a plastic bag. So I ended up with the tool holders for both machines. So F that prick.

^ I hate you.
(JK, great scores, your lucky day!).
Does the swivel base fit the vise? looks like it lines up. I'd love a Kurt, but I never see deals like that. The tool post and holders. sheesh. And I'll bet you can use the drill bit grinder to grind cutting tools?

^^^I agree, that was a nice 'get' even missing out on the one sharpener.
Are you a machinist or just collecting tools?

I'm recently retired, so always on the lookout for machinist tools. I have a Wells Index mill and a Monarch 10ee lathe. The mill came with a 6" Kurt and swivel base. The Monarch has an import quick change tool post holder which is fine for what I'm doing (restoring an '82 930). So I'll be flipping things. The swivel base doesn't say Kurt on it anywhere, but it does say D60 and fits the vise perfectly.

The Darex I ended up with had some coarse grinding wheels installed, but the one that was stolen from me had a nice diamond wheel. I may never get over that. I think you can grind end mills with that, but I need to read up some.

Arrow 50$ Blast Cabinet

Paid $50 Craigslist- Blast cabinet with working lights and fan! Probably will replace the media hose on the inside, and will find a glass piece to seal the top.

And it’s signal orange!!!
