Craigslist and Garage sale scores!
Thanks Baz, We actually found it while looking for a bigger saw, I found on her FBMP page. We found a Husqvarna 51 chainsaw to compliment our 24 year old 345. Picked it up for a listed price of $160. Although that score broke mine and Mrs Bugs hearts ![]() The seller was an 81 year old gentslman who he and his wife were moving from their beautiful property of 50 years, and moving to an older home down in sac to be closer to their daughter. The property is too much for them to take care of and he is overwhelmed with having to deal with 50 years of stuff to be downsized and everything else that accompanies such a change. Home selling/buying is a huge challenge for our older generation where everything is done via cell phones and instant messaging. The world doesn’t seem to care about older folks who have a hard time with technology. He broke down emotionally because he thought that was his forever home and now is forced to move due to his health(heart) issues. Being frustrated and overwhelmed, took me right back to dealing with my parents emotions when they were moving from 10 acres and 100 animals for 20+ years, to a track home next to my brother. Mainly because of my dad’s health issues and ability to keep up, even though I was spending a lot of time helping them out. To be totally honest, I found it very hard to hold it together myself. There was no trickery, just a kind man at the end of his mental rope. Needless to say, we spent a lot of time with him letting him just talk. Somethin about Mrs Bugs having the type of personality that folks find comforting and confide in. It also did not help, that he looked like my grandfather before he passed in 96. It was a very quiet ride home after that. Yes, I paid more than his asking price. Just felt like the right thing to do. I’ll post a pic of the saw tomorrow when I get home from work. Always nice when you get the saw case with the saw! Again - nice score, Trev!
Found this out by the front right of way this afternoon while mowing - haven't figured out where to use it yet - so many possibilities! ![]() My Dad (and his Dad) both taught us kids to keep your eye out while walking - pay attention to everything around you. Situational awareness, I guess is what they call it now. Back then it was just called finding a coin on the sidewalk...lol.....

OK - yesterday - Memorial Day - despite the crazy traffic here on the barrier island - I ventured out for a visit to Mom in her ALF. It was really nice - she was in a good mood, feeling good with no complaints, and very grateful for all she was receiving at the facility. I realize that this is very special and I am trying to appreciate things right now because I know they will chnage one day.
Anyhoo to the point of my post. After visiting Mom I drove to her house to get her mail and check on the house. It's vacant right now so I need to check it a few times per week just to make sure there's no problems. The neighbor across the street bought his place about a year ago and we've become good friends. Really good guy. Lives there with his wife and her elderly mother - and we've had plenty of convos about taking care of an elderly parent. When I bought that medical bed for Mom and was bringing it inside to set up, Sandy (the neighbor) helped me bring in the frame. I had already brought in the rest of the parts. He then helped me set it up. Mom came back to the bedroom and asked who Sandy was. He told her he was from the medical supply company with a wry smile on his face. We both shared a grin. Mom just doesn't focus in as much on faces and names anymore. So I'm coming down the street yesterday and see this Trek road bike propped up outside Sandy's place. They are still trying to finish up repairs from the flooding and he's been tossing a few things here and there. Sandy comes over and acknowledges he's getting rid of his bike. Says he is so happy I came along because now he knows it's going to a good home. I'm still in shock. It's in really great condition and has the Scott tribars too! I told him I'll put it in Mom's house for now in case he changes his mind. He had a few other things too which I scooped up. A little folding table and a very nice task chair on casters. I will post better pics of the bike later this week. I was in too much a hurry to do more while there yesterday. I told him if I had been another 20 minutes, it would have been gone. Timing sometimes.....

Those Scott bars are a blast from the past. That's a tall frame, looks like it might even be a 60!

I went to grab a barbecue down the road that was posted for free on fb for scrap. So I put the bicycle rack on the tahoe to grab it. The guy didnt put the adress on the ad but i looked it up on the tax map. So on the way there was this tractor on the curb. I grabbed the barbecue and went back for the tractor. Had to remove the barbecue and rack and huff the tractor inside. Really should have brought the trailer like the lady suggested. Anyway got it all in. The coil was broken off the engine I guess the screws backed out and caused some meyhem. A new coil was included but i had to make a mount for it off the head bolts. She fires but only runs on spray. I couldnt get the carb to feed even though i had it apart 3 or 4 times. So i bought a 12$ carb and waiting on it now.

Nice that it came with the box. I bought a Stihl recently, nice-ish one, and no box. Fortunately, the previous owner of our place left a generic chainsaw box in the garage that fits ours.

A philosophy that is no-longer a concept in todays society. Everyone so wrapped up looking at their face magnet, they miss everything. Thanks, Byron - amazing! Too far to drive for me - especially knowing it'd all be gone by the time I got there. Hope they went to a good home!
======== For anyone interested in helping their feet feel better........ Just bought these from Amazon - around $20 per pair. I got the size large because I wear size 12-13. They have a size medium and a size small too. Most other brands only offer a "one size fits all". These things are amazing! So comfy! I've had them on now for about 2 hours and just wearing them around the house. They're really not made to wear outside but would probably be just fine on any hardscape or patio. Not too crazy about the little toes - my first 3 toes go in just fine but they don't curve in enough to get the last two. Not really a problem but looks kinda funny - ha ha. Bottomline - imagine how great your feet feel while wearing a gel insert in your shoe. Then remove the shoe and just leave the gel. It's like your feet going to heaven! ![]() Not sure how much conditioning they will do until I remove them which may not be until the morning. As always no affiliation - just passing along a recommendation...... Been looking for a solid jumping Jack and or vibraplate soil compactor.
Late last-night I caught a fresh posting on FBMP for a MIKASA with 200 hours on the clock. Picked it up on the way to work for $800.00. Will be using this for the big block project and they rent for $150.00 a day locally ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Craigslist and Garage sale scores!
Second FBMP score today. Now I can return the one I borrowed three weeks ago. Same make and is a heck of a workhorse and in great shape. Another nice little addition to construction equipment Monday. Since the property seems to grow rocks, it will be used a lot during this block project. Picked up for $350.00 and now plumb out of excuses to not start working on the “decorative garden walls” per the city……

Great scores there, Trev! Nothing like owning a tool vs. renting. Although there are exceptions. Like when I used to rent a sod cutter. Easily include the rental cost into the job and not have the headaches of ownership.
They still call those chipping hammers? We sold those when I worked at a local equipment rental company. Very popular! Today I received two cases of GatorLyte, a product I haven't tried before. My doctor recommended it to me over other sports type drinks. So far so good. Got mine on Amazon. We almost hit 90 today. Got 4 more months of it. Stay hydrated! ![]()
