Just watched it. What a movie. And Eva Green is wicked. Also for some reason this movie reminds me of Kill Bill.

9k, not a movie, but based on 9ne:D
Took my Mother to see Young Frankenstein, the musical at a local dinner theater. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1634699768.jpg

Saw it last night. The good- it was a nice look at late 1,300s France and everyone in it was great, especially this girl I haven't seen before- Jodie Comer. She's probably best known from Killing Eve.

It's based on a true story, but Ridley chose to tell the same story from three perspectives, dragging it into a 2 1/2 long movie. Totally not necessary. Interesting duel and aftermath. Wait for it to stream, though.

techweenie 10-20-2021 12:33 PM

The Last Duel trailers don’t intrigue me at all. I think I’d rather re-watch Barry Lyndon

Steve Carlton 10-20-2021 02:19 PM

No Time to Die, kind of weak. The Last Duel, kind of long and repetitive.

Top Gun: Maverick better be good. The preview to House of Gucci looked good...

The Cell: Directed by Tarsem Singh. With Jennifer Lopez, Colton James, Dylan Baker, 2000.

Basically a "Silence of the Lambs" type rehash in the core plot.
(and that was not the first either fwiw. Always question reality.)
But it goes along a different path, along with some seriously amazing visuals even for today.

The movie went mostly unnoticed for all it's worth.

A crazy, entertaining movie on Netflix....worth it.

Looks fun. I love Noomi!

This has good reviews and can be seen for free next month on Netflix. It's been characterized as a Blacksploitation western. They must have had a good amorer...

Noomi rocks. The original Girl with the dragon tattoo. Just watched The Trip. Total crazieness.

Steve Carlton 10-26-2021 07:09 PM

I liked her in Prometheus, too.

I kept thinking that it was a Tarantino movie.

It does have that Tarantino flavor.

Just watched Zone 414 Sort of a Blade Runner knock off with a bit of West World thrown in. Not terrible and not great. I will say that the actor that played the wealthy freak owner of Zone 414 was very good at being freaky.

JackDidley 10-28-2021 08:35 PM

The Courier. Based on truth. Its 1960 and the CIA via MI6 recruits an English salesman to pass Russian secrets from the KGB back to them. Sort of slow moving but very interesting to me.

From Hammer Studios, 1958, starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee....and in color.....on TCM right now.......

I watched Heat again last night because of the talk about it in the Rust thread. Very good- amazing cast, including a young Natalie Portman, Val Kilmer, Jon Voight, Danny Trejo, Ted Levine (the psycho from Silence of the Lambs, Dennis Haysbert, Wes Studi, Hank Azaria, Tom Noonan, Jeremy Piven, and more. Looks like Michael Mann liked to use previous actors from prior projects, like Tom Noonan from Manhunter (a great movie), and Wes Studi from The Last of the Mohicans (another great movie).

I was thinking bits of Ronin were in Heat, but they weren't. Another excellent movie...

Did anybody ever see Andy Worhol's Flesh for Frankenstein (offered in 3D) or Blood for Dracula? Those were some diff'rent flicks...

The Harder They Fall on Netflix. The dialogue is a bit off for a western but it’s good. Idris Elba again is a master. How this guy didn’t get the Bond role I don’t know.

Steve Carlton 11-06-2021 07:39 PM

The new Bond hasn't been chosen, has he?

I don’t think so. But I don’t keep up on it. I remember Idris Elba being a fan choice but I don’t think the studios wanted him.
