I was hesitant since the last movie we went to in a different theater was way too loud. Turns out a sound engineer went to a movie there and tested it and is was just over 108db for a lot of the movie. No wonder my ears were ringing.

The TG theater was far more reasonable.

I liked it, I have friends who are former Navy, including a few Aviators, all said that it was very accurate.

This is supposed to start streaming tomorrow on Hulu. Maybe it'll play tonight at 9pm on the west coast. Some good reviews on it, a prequel to Predator.

Man my wife and I are on a bad run for movies lately. Watched the latest Batman. Friggin horrible.

Steve Carlton 08-04-2022 04:57 PM

Didn't you pan Cape Fear? Was it the one with Nick Nolte and Robert De Niro? I thought that was excellent. I liked Stillwater enough, too.

berettafan 08-04-2022 05:51 PM

I did, yes. It was, to me at least, comically bad.

The Gray Man started on Netflix a couple of days ago. Great action (maybe too much), nice smart remarks. Not perfect, but I'd give it 4 stars. I'm a Ryan Gosling fan. Ana de Armas gets to make up for her lack of use in No Time to Die.

Yes ridiculous, but fun in a John Wick sort of way. Better than reruns of the golden girls.:D

Wow with so many streaming services I am still struggling to find good movies.

I will say Copshop with Gerard Butler is a campy, fun kind of 70’s shoot’em up movie.

berettafan 08-05-2022 08:22 AM

Did we mention Copland?

Stealths post reminds me of that one. Excellent movie!

Prey is very good. Gorgeous photography of the countryside. Had the feel of Last of the Mohicans, even in the soundtrack. 4.5 stars. Pris-like makeup, ala 1719.

My eldest daughter and her husband watched this last night.

They said it wasn't perfect however "as good if not better than the Arnie version". (and it's note Woke)

Saw a pretty good classic today on TCM that I hadn't seen before. Great cast! From 1960 & directed by John Huston....

Thirteen Lives on Prime. Fantastic movie and it made me a bit emotional.

My wife is watching now, she thought it would be a theatrical release.

Seahawk 08-08-2022 02:41 PM

I went back five pages or so and didn’t find a reference:

Dog.

A bit uneven but my wife and I were in from the heat yesterday and enjoyed it very much.

Thanks... Anything with Gina Carano is worth a look.
