Idiocracy. I didn't watch it when it first came out but I've been watching a few youtube clips and reading the comments and the one comment that got my attention was "It was supposed to be a comedy but turned out to be a documentary". So true.

Me too. Love her voice and has a GREAT laugh! :)

I liked her in "The Saint".

Quick anecdote.

At the time "The Saint" came out - '97 - I was dating a real pretty gal whom I met at my dental office. She was an assistant there.

We had a date set up to see a movie. The gentleman that I am, I let her pick the movie. She picked the comedy "Liar Liar".

I didn't say anything - but wanted to see "The Saint".

Sure enough the movie she picked sucked and the evening sucked as well (IMHO) because of that friggin' dumb movie.

To this day......I believe IF we had seen "The Saint" - a really cool movie, BTW, that evening would have turned out better mood wise . I'm not just talking about banging her or anything - just having a great evening as a couple - and whatever goes with it.

Guess it was destiny.

The Saint was excellent. Val Kilmer was outstanding, too. This reminded me of Penelope Ann Miller, which made me think of The Year of the Comet.

I may watch this monkey attack movie, "Link" tonight, because of Shue. Thank you for that. I do like her.

However, I'm unsure of your age. Let me be perfectly clear speaking from the podium of wisdom granted to elderly fellows who speak volumes with little forethought.

There can be only one Link in the whole of monkeys on screen.

Bob, being on my 7th decade I consider myself ‘ Vintage and unrestored ‘. I was unable to get that ‘link’ to show up properly as it’s the trailer. The main character ‘Link ‘ steals each scene. My other favorite is ‘Sands of the Kalahari’. I do believe Stuart Whitman was actually shooting real rounds out of the Weatherbys because the recoil looks brutal.

Hi Rich,

It's all good. I was being an obnoxious snob on purpose and in fun because the Link that I meant to convey was the 1970 Saturday morning kids show Lancelot Link Secret Chimp. That's Lancelot in the white hat in that picture.

It had a run time of four months and was different (to be nice).

Pick a spot in the middle of the video and see if you can make it longer than 30 seconds.

Someone mentioned the movie 'Link' with Terrance Stamp.

A great Terrance Stamp movie (which I haven't seen in years) is 'The Hit' with Stamp, John Hurt and Tim Roth. I must check it out again one of theses days http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1657469911.jpg

I’ll be watching The Hit.

Inspired by Baz's 4th of July thread I just re-watched "The Patriot Extended Cut" (2000) on Blu-Ray.

It's still a good movie and has aged well.

Hell of a movie!

Didn't know there was an extended version - wow. The regular version is pretty long as it is!

Mel Gibson dominates on these action movies! :)

We went to an actual movie theater yesterday for the first time in several years. We went to a new place, Flix-Brewhouse. It is totally different than any theater I have ever been to before. It is a full on brewery, that makes the beer right there. Very upscale, not a typical movie theater.

We bought our tickets, and the picked the seats online, so no ticket booth, just walk in, and show a QR code on the phone, and go sit down in a super comfortable chair with an electric foot rest that comes up silently. There are tables that rotate out of the way, and you sit down, and rotate the table back. A waiter comes over, and takes out initial order of popcorn, and my wife got a diet soda, I got water.

When he brought that I asked about the beer. I looked through the wide selection of draw beer, and made my pick before the movie started, and wrote that on a notepad they provide with a pen they provide. About 45 minutes before the movie ended, I pushed a button, and he came and picked up the order, and brought it back a minute later.

I enjoyed a nice wheat pop, feet up, Dolbly 7.1 great sound, and watched the last part of Top Gun. The popcorn was excellent. They have a selection of complete meals, wings, snacks, or a full bar for mixed drinks. The overall atmosphere was far more upscale restaurant than a movie theater.

We will go back. The prices were comparable to other movie theaters, with the expected inflation of today.

On TCM right now......the classic "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World".....

Saw it with my father in the theater when it was first released.

As always....commercial free!

Already started "Cold Mountain" on cable Ovation. Followed by "Ronin".

Love "Cold Mountain"! Seen it multiple times. RZ's best movie, IMHO.

And what can you say about "Ronin"? Cult classic!

I watched Robot & Frank (2012) again. Aging man gets a robot caregiver (voiced by Peter Sarsgaard). Great cast- charming and funny. Try not to watch the trailer- it gives too much away.

Baz 07-22-2022 06:24 PM

Kubrick's "Paths To Glory" is on right now - TCM - about a half hour left.

As always - commercial free!
