Watched "Alien: Covenant" tonight on FX.
It was pretty good, actually. Towards the end a little predictable......maybe because I know the series so well....but along with that tied in well with "Prometheus". Those androids.......smh...... |

Chernobyl. HBO 5 part series. Watched via Firestick this week. Not strictly factual but a pretty good version of the nuclear explosion, back in the day. Worth a look.

If you love music... and a great story... and especially if you love The Beatles' music, don't miss seeing it on the big screen... you will thank me. Go into it promising yourself you won't let the impossible premise get in the way of your enjoyment. They pull it off incredibly well and there are some really funny moments... not gonna spoil anything... as the premise comes to fruition and lays the groundwork for and builds the story. |
+1 on "Polar" with Mr Mikkelson is just excellent.
If you like westerns, "No name on the bullet" Audie Murphy with a strong cast of characters, as a gunman who never goes anywhere except to kill someone. He comes to Lordsburg, chaos ensues as the townspeople with guilty pasts start thinking he is there for them. Mr Murphy was quite good, cold hearted killer who shoots a guy in the hand because he had not been paid to kill him. He does not like working for free. A better actor than I thought he was, in the right role, he shines. Good story, engaging with a twist at the end. That boyish face and stature, but he comes across cool and threatening. I guess that should be no surprise he could play that, given who he was |
This movie got trashed by the critics.... But I think they were absolutely wrong to do so.
If you get a chance to watch it please do and it's at its best with a decent surround sound system. I've always enjoyed period fantasy movies like this but honestly, there's a lot to love about this movie. Brilliant cast and story... Not your normal King Arthur movie. (Directed by Guy Ritchie) <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/jIM4-HLtUM0" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Jawbone... British boxing drama. I enjoyed it but it's not a happy movie.

I do not believe I have ever seen a Guy Ritchie movie I disliked.

Watched "Once Upon A Time .... In Hollywood" last night.
I liked it. Lots to take in. Might have to see it again, but if I do it will be in a theatre where the sound is spectacular, because I saw it at a little independent theatre here in Portland that prides itself on showing 35 and 70mm, but I think the sound there is lacking - and Tarantino uses music as a lead character. |
I saw it last night as well and liked it a lot. It kind of goes slow and builds up steam towards the end. Tarantino stuff is a somewhat acquired taste, but I like his stuff for the most part. I think it's one of his better ones. Brad Pitt was incredible, in my opinion.

LOTS of Porsche content in Once Upon a Time...
Unfortunately, set in 1969 and the second most prominent car is a 73 911. Oh, but I really liked it anyway. |
Yesterday. Finally got fo see it. Fun story and great tunes.

The book of Eli. Denzel Washington movie. Total Denzel baddassery but a completely different kind of story. I think it was pretty good.

Saw Once upon a time in Hollywood today. Think QT might have an issue with females?
 Also, the longhood 911 pulling away into traffic and Miss Robbie were wonderful to behold! |
Also saw Once Upon A Time yesterday. Still trying to decide what I think!
Initially the relationship between Caprio and Pitt could have been established in 15 minutes not 45. Tedious parts I wanted to hit the fast forward button. I overheard someone sitting behind us say wtf. Growing up in SoCal in the 60s and spending countless weekends on the Sunset Strip I totally appreciate what QT did to transform actual Hollywood blocks back to 1969 Hollywood. Not CGI’d! I doubt anyone that didn’t experience the area back then would not realize what was re-created. Hollywood doesn’t look like that now days! There was one blatant PC s end where Pitt picks up a Manson girl and she wants to have sex. Pitt asks her if she was over 18. That didn’t happen in 1969!!! We also saw “Echo in the Canyon” which was the same era, late 60s early 70s about what went on in Laurel Canyon. Having been to quite a few parties in the Canyon, I enjoyed this movie immensely. |
We saw Yesterday this weekend. Thought it was good and the music brought back good memories.

Thanks for posting that memorabilia....very cool! I saw Alien at a theater in Daytona with two other friends when it first came out. When they dropped me off at home I remember being scared that something might jump out at me from the bushes as I was entering my front door. A lot of time has gone by since of course so movies no longer really scare me like that one did, but looking back - it was quite a movie when it came out - and still is. Alien Covenant was done very well and I look forward to more installments in the series. Thanks again for your post, buddy. SmileWavy |
Old school cop buddy movie with a difference.
I enjoyed it but it's not your typical Hollywood movie. It's moderately political at times but it doesn't detract from the story. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2p5pdWyyZoc" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
