Weed-B-Gone is a popular broadleaf weed killer. It takes about two weeks to get complete die back, but it works.

Pull em.

That Weed-B-Gone with IRON™ is completely useless. (At least whatever is sold in Alberta)

Why are you worried about weeds tho?

It was snowing here again yesterday. Global Warming is Awesome.

I pull them by hand. Govt. here has outlawed the toxic weed part of weed and feed lawn food such that it must be organic now. The carcinogenics can end up in the ground water.

My mother used to use salt on weeds and it used to work well.

I notice nobody has responded from California or Arizona as weeds don't grow so readily(neither does lawn grass) there as it is so dry.

And yes Calgary I will take our weeds over your snow! I do genuinely feed sorry for Calgarians for the terrible winter/spring you have had.
Guy.

It depends on were they are but I mostly use hot water if they're on their own. (Driveway etc)
Cheap and it works 100% of the time.

If they're mixed in with my veggies they get pulled by hand but on my lawn I resort to "Roundup" or any other quality herbicide.

If you don't have a hoa that demands perfect lawns, just mow them. In my area they are called country lawns. I haven't bought any seed or fertilizer in 30 years. Money for Porsche parts.

I have a lot of grass. I cut acres and acres every week. How much lawn are you trying to repair?

There are a few keys to restoring a neglected lawn. It happens slowly unless you have a lot of money to burn.

Soil sample first. Different parts of my farm have different soils. Soil is most important because in certain race weeds will survive were grass will not.

I use Weed Begone spray. I have a 60 gallon sprayer with booms to make it easy. I really recommend the spray application since it is much easier to apply and you can tailor how much goes where as needed.

Over seed in the fall. Apply fertilizer in the fall.

Aerate twice a year, spring and fall.

Cut the grass high, think second /third cut on a golf course. I never water so that keeps the grass healthy

If necessary, top dress any areas that require it.

On my farm you can absolutely tell where I care about the grass. Around the house, the embankment, etc., is 99% weed free. Other areas, around the barns, stable and the paddocks where I don't spray of fertilize every year, there are more weeds.

I takes time and experimentation. All the equipment you need is rent-able. The key is getting a solid, deep base of grass.

I'm not so sure what's up with Ortho Weed-B-Gone. That stuff used to work great. In the past few years, not so much. Me thinks it's been reformulated. Probably an EPA thing.

Banned here. Lawn Service companies use some sort of ugly iron spot spray. I just dig them out by hand telling myself that it's good exercise.

No chemicals on this yard since my kiddos are still young and roll around it quite frequently.
After each mowing, I spray the lawn with a tonic consisting of dish soap, a can of coke and a beer. I've been doing this consistently since my kids were born and have had no significant issues with weeds.
