i finaly found the title,it is a 66 912,so there you have it,i been to busy workin on motorcycles to work on the car,but hope to get goin on it again in a month or so.but i'll probably just focus on making it a street legal track car,anyone wanna buy some webers?

A Celette frame is best but if you can't find one....
I used a rotisserie on my project and ended up +/- 1/8" off of factory specs after it was all put together.
IMO, the only body parts that really need to be there are the front steering rack mounts and the rear torsion tube/banana arm mounting points. With those reference points, you can make all of the repairs and check your alignment as you go along. You can make a reference jig that performs all of the functions of the Celette Rig with tube steel and some welding skills |

sorry i havent updated in awhile,i did check out speedy's build thread.absolute amazing! so im finally gettin back to work on this thing,im just gonna do the rottiserie thing after seeing speedy's build. having the car flipped over is gonna make this project so much easier. i pulled the tranny out today and the gas tank.good thing i topped off the tank before i started tearing the car down. my cv's are worn out,i looked in the catalog,are them things really $280 each???..ok im gonna try post some pics

ok,that pic its hard to see,but its like some kind of settling went on i dont know if the body flexed when i jacked the car upor something,but now im paranoid. my body panels arent perfectly aligned now,but i can get them aligned i can tell.

![]() does anyone know why someone would torch holes through the body here? im gonna try and work fairly quickly on the rust repair,im gonna try n make all my own panels instead of spendin 600 bucks on a new floor,i got cold rolled sheetmetal and aseamroller and all the tools,so i think i can make the panels without too much trouble. i mean...how hard could it be? hah |

hey,i realize this isnt the technical thread,but while im gonna be workin on this car i keep thinkin of things i wanna do,i want to build stainless headers for this thing and eliminate the heater boxes,does anyone ever just use an electric heater/fan to defrost the windows in the winter? i was too busy this week to work on the car,but hope i get more time this week with some pics.

ok,so i got the front fenders off and the doors.i started wire wheeling the rear fender,cuz i was suspicious of the amount of bondo...well,i wasnt disapointed!..this guy must have owned stock in a body and paint supply company! after getting the weld area stripped down,it would appear he just kept loading the bondo on basically softening the transition by like 3/4 of an inch. i eyeballed down the transition line and i really see no reason for loading that much filler.this is a perfect example of people who dont have a clue hoe to do bodywork,would probably be well advised to not do it! ok,i'll let some pics tell the story.

wow,for some reason i cant post pics,i'll mess around with it some more,i'll check what size my tires are. ive been wire wheeling 1/4 inch of bondo off this entire car! there's even bondo in the windshield wiper divots smoothed to perfection...crazy!

so im gonna try n have the paint stripped by friday evening and get the car flipped on its lid so i can start on the floor saturday.once i get the floor done i can put the panels back on and fit everything.i decided to wire wheel the paint off cuz i didnt feel like hauling it to the sandblaster,plus it'd cost a small fortune with all the bondo on it,i might bring it to do the jambs and hard to reach areas....good plan?...who the hell knows!
