What voltage at the A/C fan switch

I'm deep, deep into replacing all the A/C components on my '83 SC...barrier hoses, evaporator, both condenser, etc..etc... and just finished the retroaire evaporator fan upgrade. It's been running good for a few days and all of a sudden...bupkiss.

Checked all the fuses under the hood, swapped relays, checked fuses in the back...nada. Using my voltage meter I get 3.6 or so volts at the fan power wire. Is is normal? Can I troubleshoot a bad switch by just jumping power over to one of the fan speed wire (low/med/hi) or should I be using a 12 volt source to see if the fan motor is okay? Did I mention it's all brand spanking new? Thanks, Dean |

Compliments of Gerry 86 911 Targa Current: Blower (Evap) Motor Lo Blower Motor Med Blower Motor High Voltage at High: Note this data is off of 84-86 3.2 Also check A/C fues #2, if it is loose due to heat shrinkage. For my issue I re-placed the fuse block and rails for $26: Fix: 3.2 A/C #2 fuse FINALLY!!!!

I still don't see them, but I have solved the problem and thank you for the input. In my case, it ended up being a loose relay. Really barely noticeable that one was sticking out a little more on the fuse box than the others....really hard to notice. Fans are all back on and I'm breathing easier. Now to finish up! |
