Thanks guys. Subtle because it’s a smaller ducktail and not as wide as the Mary Stuart collar but overall not so subtle yes lol 😂

Dialing in vehicle height and bumper height in relation to each other and side rockers. Some additional adjustments are definitely needed. Feedback is welcome but know that some changes have already been made since these photos were taken. Rear needs to be a tad lower, bumpers need a little further contouring, softening and minimally an approx 1” extension needs to be added beneath the fender and quarters.

Will this car be getting side skirts?
I think cars with the bottom edge of the bumpers lower than the side sills/skirts look awkward.

Sort of yes to both. As I tried not so clearly to explain is that we will be adding metal to the bottom of the quarter panel in front of the tire and to the bottom of the fender behind the front tire and possibly have to add a small amount to a certain portion of the rocker to make it all look copasetic. Bottom line is it needs to look right. Nothing should catch your eye as being irregular. Thanks for the feedback guys

Inch by inch it’s getting closer. I can begin to smell it.
Starting to fine tune the headlamp bezel prototype to then begin final production work

Just an FYI on someone else's project a few years ago for reference.

I will post also a closer photo of the front corner as well, as now the skirting piece that forms the lower part of the wheel arch has been painted to match the bumpers

Superfoamy does a good job of hiding the oil lines and does not call attention to it's self in my opinion.

Maybe room for improvement?

I'm in agreement with chrisbalich on the when the front valance is lower than the sides that it can look askew at certain angles. However both my Targa and pickup truck with front chin spoiler currently suffer from this. I'm over it, and not a source of grief.

Is the front lower valance chin spoiler made out of Divinycell?

I've seen a whole hovercraft made out of Divinycell foam, amazing stuff, told it will hold a screw.

Hey that’s pretty cool but too be honest I love the exposed oil lines so this may prove to be a battle for the best overall form. Again I think where we get into trouble aesthetically speaking is when something just looks odd. When it looks odd then you start staring at it and it festers. It’s like the proverbial sore thumb.
I will know sooner than later the outcome of both and will either proudly show you guys the results or be back here asking for your vote on which looks best. The bottom of the spoiler is just wood. The bumpers will ultimately be cast out of composite.

Have you considered the Singer style bumper that Dave K. Sells? I have one for my car that I just purchased if you want to try on.

Honestly that would have been a better starting point than working from scratch as my overall bumper isn’t all that different from his however I do want my own bumpers on this build all said and done. There are some pretty cool details that you will notice once done that give it a different look, feel and aerodynamic. Thanks again for the offer.

That's not a bad idea, hope he takes you up on it - what's to lose?

How close to a 1971 Porsche 911 RSR Martini Racing tribute do you want to be nathanbs?

The cars that followed the 1971 car in later years most certainly had the front valance lower than the sides, but in 1971 it was not so.

What you built is very nice and original, I'm probably just over thinking it.

The 73 Mary Stuart RSR was just our inspiration. We are building a “touring” car that will be very updated in many ways but hopefully still exude that early 70s feel.

Had to take on the gauges myself as I couldn’t find anyone seemingly capable of doing what I was after. That will be revealed at a later date

Starting to look at interior leather colors and options

Front bumper finally wrapping up. I’m very satisfied with its look and feel. Couldn’t be happier. Now time to make a mold

Love to see your build. I'm 10 minutes away from Alhambra and need to test drive my carburetors after some jetting changes.
