Fuch wheel question? Can someone help.

I have a 1973 911E and I am considering switching from the cookie cutters to fuchs. I need to know what to look for to purchase the correct set. I do not know anything about them and it seems like I need to know numbers on the rims and sizes etc. Please inform me!

Pete, If you want a date correct set I'm no expert.

Size wise you would be looking at 15 x 7.

There should be a little caricature of a fox's head stamped on the backs of all early Fuchs.

There should be a 901****** part number stamped on the back.

pistolpete -- are you looking to stick with 15" diameter wheels (which have very limited tire availability these days) or switch to 16" diameter wheels (with better tire availability)?

Stock '72 would have had 6x15 ET36 Fuchs w/ 185/70 tires, currently the best available 185/70 x15 is a Pirelli CN36 repro which uses modern construction and materials

7x15 ET23.3 can be fitted but you will want to keep tire od down, 205/55 is good , 205/50 also works but some don'y like the short sidewall look, 205/60 is getting too tall and 216/60 is definitely too tall especially in back

As Bill noted, the 6" wide is correct and the best fitment. I recently put a full set on my refreshed '72, and the fit is correct and perfect.

The tires I have on there right now are 195/65/15.
I would like to keep them. What would work with them?

My silver car pictured above has 195/65-15 on 6". Fit is fine.
