Help finding thermo time switch

car is a '69 E with a '72 T engine. A real pro said I need part #911-617-117-08
but I can't seem to find this anywhere. does this make sense? Any suggestions?

MFI engine? Carbs?
Not aware of them being used on cars that early.

74 and newer CIS engines use them for the cold start injector.
Installs in drivers side chain case, two terminals stick out.

MFI equipped cars have the thermo-time switch mounted to the oval shaped engine breather cover in the center of the motor towards the front.

Try part# 911-617-117-00 for the thermo time switch.
The 73.5 listing for a thermo time switch is incorrect.
The MFI and 74 on CIS used a thermo time switch, but the 73.5 first generation CIS did not.

This might be a good place to mention that I finally got frustrated with the thermo-time switch operation on a couple of MFI inducted cars (mine and my son's). It just doesn't seem to work all that well, often vastly under-priming a "lukewarm" car, like one that has sat for just an hour or two. It seems to get "confused" and shuts off the priming flow too early.

I went ahead and removed them and installed later breather covers without the hole for the thermo-time switch. I then wired the bypass solenoid to a momentary contact switch - a push button - that I installed in the dashboard. This gives the driver full control of the delivery of the priming charge. Both cars start much, much better now, when in that "semi-warm" state. And, well, just better overall.

thanx guys ( i assume) it's MFI and the first mechanic did bypass the TTS...straight to
the solenoid....adn yes i have a push button system, as Mr. Higgins suggest, but still seems semi-reliable. Not a CIS car. thanx steve

I eliminated the thermotime switch as well. Put a switch on the rear tunnel cover. When in the on position, the starter would send power to the cold start solenoid. Worked perfectly (sort of like a choke on a carbureted car).

I may need to revisit this to make sure the switch I have is sending all of the electrons.
