962 Project - New build
I was in the garage of a friend yesterday that has started on a 962 project.
I was impressed of his knowledge of this car and his approach to build his dream car. The chassis will be built in the basement of his garage. He has spent about 2-3 years in collecting enough information to start building the chassis, but would like all the help he could get. So if you guys out there are able to help, we would be very grateful. I see that Wayne has a great thread here with many nice and detailed pictures. All kind of info would be great. drawings, sketches, pictures etc Can also send to email 930owner at gmai dot com Here is a couple of pictures of where he is at now. ![]() ![]()

I have about 1/2 a gig of pictures of a 962 that I was helping with the sale of. But... A lot of the pictures are not the best exposure and focus (cheaper cameras are easily confused). That is really too much to send unless you really need them.
A few suggestions: - Wayne (Mr. Pelican...) has four 962s and a BUNCH of connections. He would be a great resource for specific pictures and measurements. - Canepa has a pretty good series of photos showing a frame up restoration of 962-170. It will give you a good idea of what is under the skin and maybe they can provide full resolution version of any photos. 1991 Used Porsche 962C Team Trust at Canepa Serving Scotts Valley, IID 5116604 - Ask for specific needs. I'm sure you will receive more pictures then you can look at.

Hello guys
Here is the owner of the project! nice to have good Porsche friends to help for useful information. What is of most interest at the moment is detailed measures of pick up point for front A-arms, steering steel suport bracket interface to the Monocoque side walls. Also exact position of interface holes for front sway bar into the Mono sides. I have all details of the measures and inside reinforcements in the Mono, but are not 100% sure if I have correct measures for all interface holes regards to the front suspension. Thank you for your interest in this project. |

Interesting project. Are you going for nearly 100%, or a facsimile/interpretation?
Bruce Canepa and Kevin Jeannette and their businesses come to mind. Dave Klym as well. Some of my local friends are in the business having restored or refreshed many of the cars in the Drendel collection recently sold at auction. I got to see some of this fine work in progress. Lots of details. Lots of resources around. If the car is going to be more toward 100% and driven on a race track, I suggest being very careful with the aero and related components. For example, desirable spring rates are affected by aero. And I think some 962s had special set ups for wheel bearing cooling... et cetera. Good luck and share more info when/if you are able.

Hello Flieger
I have the Porsche 962 mono drawings, but it is a copy of a copy of a.. so I am not 100% sure if I have correct measurements of the threaded holes/drilled holes for front suspension interface. Your pictures displays what I am looking for, but without the measures between them and so on... I work for a world leading drilling equipment supplier, and make of the different parts, all from sheet metalwork through moulding and software is not the big issue in this project, but to get the 100% correct measures. Mahler9th: Yes the goal is as close to as possible, I have checked against the 120mm shorter 956.109 (or 108) owned by a Swedish Porsche guy, but unfortunately he sold this car. |

Regards to aluminium moulding, the supplier of Porsche Panamera aluminium suspension parts are located her in the south Norway! So it would have been a dream to get the 3D scan/mould measurements or similar to uprights, crossmember between engine and gearbox ++ Then I could have get the parts mould by an Porsche supplier!
I also have a friend that was working for Hydro and danish Bang & Olufsen, that was involved in Porsche`s project with sandwich construction for 962, but the project was closed. Bang & Olufsen was in the 1980`s world leading in aluminium surfacing process. |

I wonder if Deiter at Andial would have any documentation of the location of the pickup points. They were Porsche Motorsports North America in the 80s and they pretty much touched all of them in this hemisphere.
I'll see if I can swing by on my way south to Newport at lunch.

Here are a few showing the front suspension of a later car (962-170)
The pelican site reduces the resolution to 800x600 but these are either 4000x3000, 3504x2336, or 2592x1944. If you need any specific one at full res just let me know. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
