Here is an update on the hinges for conversion. After doing quite a few I have adjusted the prices a little. The prices now include return shipping. The basic conversion to your hinges is $75.00, add $25.00 if you want an extra shock mount on the right side (includes the body side mount also), add $50.00 if you want them painted to match (PPG basecoat/clearcoat). If you choose unfinished they are now blasted to bare metal. Donor hinges are available costing me around $35.00 by the time I get them here. Check or money order or Pay Pal are all fine. Turnaround within a week. Thanks, Matt

How about this....Could you use a 964 decklid and retractable spoiler with 911R decklid hinges? Maybe with longer wires? I will be over here in left field if anyone needs me....

				AWESOME!

Thank you so much Matt. This board is great and it is filled with fantastic people. Decklid and spoiler are at the paint shop now. I hope to have this done within the next two weeks (yeah right, who am I kidding). I'll try to take some pics while I'm working on it. When I first got the car in February, I thought for sure that I wanted a carrera tail, but the lines of the car just keep growing on me, and that's why I'm going with the 964 spoiler now. There is no way I would have even considered this or known it was possible without the knowledge shared on this BB. Thanks to all who have done this already and have posted about it.

Craig, thanks for the kind words! Shawn, not sure on the 911R hinges as I am not sure what they look like dimensionally. Can you post a picture? Josh, thanks so much and glad I could help! Look forward to seeing a picture. To the others waiting, I just received more donors so I will try to ship in the next few days. And thanks Wayne! This board really is great! Matt

Matt - I got the hinges in on Friday, they look great. We'll see how they fit this weekend. Thanks! Another question to anyone who has tackled this project: I'm running the wiring now for the spoiler motor and was wondering if anyone felt the need to use a relay? The reason I ask is the wiring that runs the power through the Autoloc controller box seems a bit skimpy. I know the motor is small, and it probably doesn't require to much power to lift the spoiler up. But I'd rather keep any excess load off the Autoloc and the switch. Opinions? Experience? Anyone? Thanks.

Thanks Josh and please let me know of any problems or suggestions you might have. Maybe post a picture to this thread? On the relay issue, I haven't got that far on my own car yet (but I am finally getting around to replacing a quarter panel today so I'm closer), but I will be using multiple relays as I feel any load you can keep off the Autoloc and the micro switches is going to be good. Now back to the shop, all I have to do is finish the quarter panel, bolt on the decklid, hood, fenders and doors, install the glass weatherstrip and interior, paint the car black, install the engine and transmission, rewire and wire up the spoiler, cleanup those deep six's, go thru all the brakes and suspension, and, and... Maybe I'll just go have a cold one. Matt

Matt, two things: 1. Sweet work, and cool of you to step up for us on this. I'm definitely going to think about this one. 2. You should include in your price that they have to post pics of the finished products on this thread. Did I mention that they look great?

I promise to send a pic when I complete my project, but I don't have the lid part at this time (just the spoiler). I suspect many people are still gathering their parts. -Shelley

My 964 deckild/spoiler is painted, mounted and funtional. I'm getting around to pictures soon, maybe later tonight, definitley tomorrow. If anyone is thinking about this, USE MATT'S HINGES! Very well made, and the fit/alignment was perfect. Another suggestion, try to buy the whole set-up (deckild/spoiler/motor/wiring & switches under decklid) all together. I bought bits and pieces here and there and had to do some fabricating and also needed to find various bits of hardware to make everything work. I'll try to get some pics up later. Wifey wants to go to the movies...what wifey wants....wifey gets. Thanks again Matt.

A few other things. In an earlier post I mentioned that since I purchased parts from a few different people, I was missing some hardware. I had to make the passenger side bracket that mounts the spoiler to the decklid: And I'm missing the piece that covers the gap between the spoiler and deckild when the spoiler is raised, so for now I fabbed up this screen that makes it look a bit better, but it's still not what I'm looking for. I'll either end up trying to find the factory piece, or come up with something that makes me happy.
