Thanks Chris. I haven't had time to finish my own hinges yet, but here is a picture of the set I just sent out Thursday that belong to rds356...

Matt,
When using 2 hood shocks on one side you may find that it causes the deck lid to not lay perfectly flat. I think a mod where there was a shock on each side would be ideal. Bill |

To freshen up the related engine lid info, (it has been covered in other threads, but since this is the newest one on the conversion, here goes)
AutoLoc controller http://www.autoloc.com/detail.lasso?itemid=WC1000 WC 1000 - $39.95 I got mine from "rx4speed_com" on eBay for $24.99, 'buy it now' price (great seller) C2 Deck lid Again I got mine off eBay. The seller did a 'buy it now' for me at $299.99 with $50.00 shipping. Going price seems to be $300-$600. 993 Pictrogram switch I found a used one at Dunkels Bros swap meet. On the internet, and "WTB" on Pelican I had no luck. If ordered from a Porsche dealer you must include the color code even though they are only available in black, so part number is 993.613.203.00.01C (01C is the color code). List price is $47.00 with a 5 day lead time. Otherwise the power window switches are easy to find used, and MUCH cheaper. Of course "The website" with the conversion information and wiring diagrams. http://66.34.72.138/howto/c2-lid/index.html Matt had a good idea to wire the spoiler so it 'power-off' stows... so when you park, it is always in the down position. I'd like to wire the spoiler so it will deploy in any gear higher then 1st, and stow in first gear (poorman's speed switch), in addition to the manual switch.

Matt-
I just picked up a used set of hinges on ebay that I would like to use to fit a C2 decklid to my 76 targa. Can you help me out with the hinges? Thanks, Jon |

Matts Hinges
Matts hinge modification is over the top. It looks great.
Very strong indeed. Also a great value. I detect a new side business. Will post pics as soon as the deck lid is painted and mounted. Regards Rich |

Luis, you will have to relocate your AC condenser from the deck lid to a remote location like the front fender area. I think a company called Kuel? has a kit for that. Hey, I'm sure we can work around that pesky lanquage thing... Any one else know more on the AC issue for Luis?
Rich, glad you got your hinges back OK! Let me know if you have any problems or suggestions... Too all, while you were all sleeping like Babes last night I worked out a prototype strut/shock mount for the right side that will duplicate the geometry on the left side. Will require bolting or spot welding the body half of the mount to the underside of the package tray, just like the factory. Let me know what you think. Add $25.00 for the shock mount option. Thanks so much, Matt

Ray 911s, got your hinges today, DHL/Airborne sucks! (at least in my area) Two packages within a week from them and they... too long of a story. Anyway, I will get them out ASAP!

Second set of "cores" are on the way, Matt. I have another set of extras here, too. If anyone else needs spare hinges for the conversion, check with Jerry
I have a set of spare 964 hinges if anyone wants to try to fab a solution using the new style hinge. If the magic number is 1.125" then a longer hinge pin and simple added bracket (like the extra shock mount bracket) should do the trick.

Update on installing the hinge shock mount for the right side; if you look in the area under the package shelf about where the mount should go, you will see a flat mounting pad just like the left side has. My mount will fit there perfectly like stock and can be spot welded or drilled and fastened with sheet metal screws or better yet small bolts & nuts. It is boxed in that area, so no fear of a short screw going through your package shelf. If you remove the package shelf cover and soundproof from inside the car you will see access in that area to install a nut.
I can also make this modification to stock hinges for people who add a wing but don't want to use a double shock kit. Tell your friends! Thanks, Matt

Wow Matt,
That was fast! Thanks for the quick turnaround. Now I can ditch those washers I have on my current set up. |

Matt,
The hinges arrived about 5 minutes ago, only one word- WOW! If anyone is thinking about this mod, Matt is the way to go. Not only do these hinges look like they came straight from Stuttgart, but Matt even includes 'Tips for installing your hinges and adjusting your deck lid'. Matt you are da Man!
