Animated 911 engine, enhanced

This week's enhancement:

- bigger, was 465x368 now 550x436 which has better detail (sorry dial-up users)
- counterweighted crank
- better CIS injector spray

The MFI injection model is in progress.

Maybe I'm slow, or just stupid, but. . .how do you save the animation? I'd really like to use this as my desktop. . .Thank you for this wonderful file!

Don,

Right-click on the picture. Choose "set as wallpaper" on the pop-up menu. Choices for wallpaper are stretch, center or tile.

Great job!
I didn't want to say anything about the CIS not being sequential injection on the first version, that's being a bit picky.

I know what CIS stands for, but does that mean the injectors are spraying even when the intake valve is closed?

Yes, the injectors are constantly spraying. The intake valves do the 'pulsing'.

The "C" stands for constant. So, yes, it just sprays and sprays.

EFI really brought the world of engine performance and cleanliness to the science it is today. Well, that and vario-cams and vario-rams. Let's see animation of that.

The thing that I learned from this is why the cam shafts are so different. I never really though about it. I just figured it was one of those things that "is what it is." Now, I see.

Thanks from here, too.

OOOOoooo...can't wait for the MFI version. Will this be an MFI engine similar to the CIS, or an animation of the MFI system only? The latter would be awesome...I've always had a hard time visualizing that system.

I don't think Windows can show animated GIF files as wallpaper. It will just be static. Maybe as a screensaver slideshow. You can still save the pic and view it later as an animated image.

I really appreciate your feedback and am very happy that you enjoy the animation Gents! I learn quite a bit about my engine going through the exercise and hope you do likewise.

I like to add features and details as I go along and thought there was some room for improvement in the previous version. This is just something I "tinker" with so appologies about the huge file size and such. If I was a serious web developer, this would be done with overlay masks instead of whole frame changes and save huge amounts of file space.

I'm running a 1000x792 version (the original size of the scan of the cut-away drawing from the factory manual) as my Windows XP desktop and the animation works fine. In addition the resolution of the drawing is not "jaggy" at all in the original scan size. I will make the larger format available to those with a high enough resolution monitor who would like a copy once it's finished. The file size is about 10 Mb, so I'll have to e-mail it as my AOL account doesn't have enough free space to host it.

Regarding the MFI version, it will have the timed injectors, different shaped pistons and a few other surprises! I wanted to get this counter-weighted crank finished on the CIS version so I could use it on the MFI one, but it won't be a quick-and-dirty cut and paste and I hope you all find it as cool and unique as the CIS version.

If I could get my hands on a later EFI engine factory manual, an animation of that could be possible too. I just need a nice detailed cut-away drawing as a starting point.

As I make improvements to the 930.gif file, I upload it to my AOL account, the link is http://members.aol.com/darryld/930.gif if you want to stay current you could save this in your browser's "favorites" list and reload it periodically.

I had the low res version as my desktop, XPPro FWIW. I loved it, but it makes it hard to work . My co-workers kept asking 'what is that?'. Cant wait for the MFI version

Thought it was just me. . .XP doesn't animate. As it's saved as a .GIF file, photochop won't animate it either. I JUST love windows.
