I am running a 315/35/18 nitto NT-01 in the rear with 245/45/18 in the front in a Super Sport Race tire. It is mainly a spirited street car I was just courious to see what specs some of you guys are running...
Thanks! |

if you don't mind sharing... we'll have a very good starting point... I think the problem is the offset of my wheels (measurements were taken when I had Tbars and different calipers). But we are having new wheels made so I'd love hear your thoughts. THANKS |
Caveats:
1) This is a 930 - with 930 trailing arms and 930 geometry. Teo, this is good news for you ;) 2) I have 275/315 Kumho V710 tires. When I ran 255s in V700 up- front, the car felt terrible. Completely different. 3) Some other stuff I forget right now..... I'll look for the specifications - |
Left front: -2.0
Right front: -2.1 Caster: 5.5 Toe: 0.0 to 0.1 Left rear: -2.9 Right rear: -2.9 Toe: .12 to .33 |

craig, what was the problem with the 255s?? Understeer?? I hope not whats the steering feel like on the 930 compared to your narrow body 3.6conversion car? I get the feeling that the wide tires kill some of that resposive feel.... I hope I'm wrong. Thanks |
The problem was greatly diminished steering feel - the camber was optimized for 275s.
It was so bad that on-track 'confidence' took a good sized hit. **** Feel at low speed is way heavier. Brute strength needed in parking lots. But it isn't a parking lot car. ;) Below about 25 mph it is a bit more 'sluggish'. Any speed above that it is a huge improvement with very quick directional change and huge feedback through the wheel. Hang on tight while on the street - ruts, wear grooves etc - Some of this is from the tire width and probably more of it from the camber - IMO. Grip at higher speeds is way up. |
It's a shame that beauty is going to the wrong side of the pond:(
|
Stay tuned.... I should have something special for this car soon....
Just waiting for a part to arrive and then off to manufacturing we go!!! :) Cheers |
matteo, would love to see your mexico blue project upon completion. that's an awesome rebuild. color, set up, engine is just astounding. phenomenal to say the least.
|
Hurry up and put some more parts on it! I am getting anxious to see some more pictures of the progress.

I saw your car today Matteo! I was so excited and honored! What a truly gorgeous color blue! I took a few pics of it...including one VERY similar to that Lindsey wheel...:D

And to think it would've been right around the corner from me...:( |
Bump for update....
|
I had a very very busy week. I will try and check on it somethimes in the next couple of days...
|
Congratulations on the new car in the sig. Now that you have the GT, does the Porsche hold less anticipation for you? I imagine the GT already has a better power:weight than the Porsche will.
|
Thank you... I have been in love with the GT since its presentation as a project in 2002. For me it has it all... Don't flame me but like the 911 it has heritage, looks and it beat the Ferraris at their own game.
Also it is not the obvious choice for a car (GT3 RS and 430 CS come to mind). In terms power to weight ratio the GT is 3,450 lbs and 550 hp... so 6.27 lbs/HP. The 911 will have around 380hp and we are gunning for 2,300 lbs so 6 lbs/HP ratio. My guess is that the GT will be much easier to drive fast for a guy like me. In the right hands my 911 should run circles around the GT anywhere apart from Le Mans and the Ring where the better aero of the GT will have the advantage. As per the expectations... to be honest I thought it would take a lot less time to get the 911 ready. I have learnt that to do it right it takes time. But I am sure that if I had had the 911 on the road sooner I would have not bought the GT. |
The GT is one of those cars that will remain special for many years to come... flame all you want about being a Ford... but those lines, the low profile, the fact that they are no longer making anymore... just a great modern interpretation of a timeless design that will age extremely well.
Congrats on getting one Matteo. Please share your thoughts on it once you get a few miles under your belt. There was a car show close to home and they had a red one. Just a thing of beauty. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1173105281.jpg |
Flame you for buying a GT???? How could ANY car guy have a problem with THAT!!!!! They're awesome!
(I wonder how different it will be driving a supercharged V8 compared to a high winding flat 6!) |
Teo,
You are my hero :D Congratulations! I've wanting a GT for a while, but I've been prioritizing the house, kitchen, etc., etc. My wife is very happy with the decisions. One day, I'll have GT, too. I won't get one, though, until my retirement is locked in. Probalby many years from now. Doug |

You will not believe the narrow-minded people that are comfortable in their cocoon and will bash, flame, criticized other brands simply because it is not a Porsche or "insert your obsess by brand here" . I look forward to owning a Ford GT just as much as a Lamborghini, or a Corvette Z06, and a 997 GT3RS…or one of those replica C-type Jaguars… it is all about the emotion that those cars generate in me. In the case of the Ford GT you can’t find that many cars that look that unique. Just getting close to one and looking at the work done, the exposed frame, braces, that engine sitting right behind you, the details of the door with the roof cut out… it is a thing of beauty. I just wished they put a V10 in there.... Oh well... ;)

Congratulations Matteo! Wow! Great car...what a stable you're going to have! I saw a Top Gear clip where Jeremy Clarkson was testing an uprated version of the GT...I think it was called the GTX. He said it was even more astonishing than the "normal" GT. I wonder if they ever came to market since I've never seen anything about them before or since.

Awesome P-car..... And now a Ford GT....decisions..decisions...:D Noticed a Ford GTX1 (Targa mod, few HP tricks) on dpccars site...not sure if i can post a link... http://www.dpccars.com/car-videos/02-09-07page-Ford-GTX1.htm Keep the Pictures coming.....better than porn...and work friendly... HelmetHead |
A Ford GT was at a track day last year - I got in for a ride, got out when done w/o helmet on......and smacked my head on the horizontal roof surface of the door so hard I just about blacked out..... http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/lol2.gif

Damn Mateo..... a new GT also, your killing me man ;) . I have to ask and feel free to not answer, but what the heck do you do for a living to afford all these awsome toys? . I'm broke but I have my health and youth so I guess I'm not that bad off :D oh and I'm unemplyed to heh,heh :) not really that funny :D
Would love to hear what you think of the GT also once you get some miles on it. |

awesome project
the attention to detail is what really sets this car apart if you have any more info on how the rear shock towers were reinforced that would be great also those throttle bodies are sweet thanks |
John
the rear shock towers were reinforced using the original RSR as an inspiration. Basically Keith welded some strengthening plates on the inside of the shock tower mounts, some triangular brackets on the outside and then welded the top of the towers together with a brace. I will take more detailed pictures next time. |
The GT was brand new to the guy - he hired an insructor to learn to drive on the track.
When he laid into it on the straight, it was QUICK. I believe it would pull away from my car above 120 or so - A Z06 is just a hair quicker than the GT, and the Z06 is a hair quicker accelerating than my 930 - so I think they would be just about equal. |

Cars are my only "vice". I don't play golf, I don't gamble, I don't collect wine, I don't have a mistress etc. I am fortunate that rigth now I can afford these. But life can change quickly (5 yrs ago we were struggling to pay rent as we invested everything into launching the hedge fund) so... Money has not changed me... and if it goes away it will be fine. I have a wonderful wife and 2 beautiful girls... We are all healthy, the rest is really superflous. |

I wish the GT had the Z06 engine  as I am not a huge fan of forced induction... However there is little argument against the huge amount of torque that is avalaible from 2k rpm... it makes it for a fun ride... But enough on the GT.. I will start a thread in OT with pics and driving impressions. Also I want to take it to CMP to compare the lap times between the Ford and the 911 with me behind the wheels.... |
big believer of good things happen to good people, and the forum usually only encourages that beleif.
i'm also learning the good people build amazing cars :P were is the build at???? ford GT is nice, but it is not this 911 build up at all IMO... |
Matteo.........Can I be your FRIEND?
I have lots of cool motorcycles you can ride............:D |

With that kind of disposable income, why not go all the way, and get the GT 40 ???
|
the ford gt is the modern gt 40..
its faster better sounding more reliable more comfortable and better on gas i understand the gt40 from the 60's has got its thing going for it....but for a car thats almost the same you pay less and get everything other then the quirks... |
The modern GT is faster than the GT40??? Better sounding??
