That is alcantara... the liner, A-pillars and B-pillars are covered by it.. It looks wicked!

rdane 04-18-2007 08:23 PM

Matteo, such a great project. Only wish I could have seen it in person.

Have fun with it!

I think you can see it at Treffen, unless Matteo changed his plan.

Well it does not look like the engine is going to be here in time...

Might just take the tub...

jmz 04-19-2007 07:06 AM

why don't you fly the good Doctor Timmins to your shop in NC and let him tune and install the engine there?

Hey it's only money...

SCHNELE 04-19-2007 07:17 AM

When and where is the Treffen.

rdane 04-19-2007 08:41 AM

Treffen? Really? That would be very cool.

Grrrrrrr......

After 8 months in the shop I missed Monterey with my car by 10 days. I wasn't pleased.

In retrospect I shouldn't have said a thing. Because of the "rush" it took forever to get all the little details sorted out after the car made its first appearance. Then on the way to Santa Rosa last year I started sorting out the typical new car issues. A 50 section of that 2000 mile trip was on a flat bed. And if it wasn't for the help another very generous Porsche owner it would have been more like 800 miles.

SCHNELE 04-19-2007 08:51 AM

Where the BLEEP is the Treffen?

San Luis Obispo, I think.

rdane 04-19-2007 09:05 AM

For the past 7 or 8 years it has been held along the California coast some where. Camberia for a couple of years. Two years ago it was Monterey. Last year it was Santa Rosa. This year is San Luis Obispo.

It is a Rgruppe event. You can learn more here.

kojo911 04-19-2007 10:25 AM

teo,

How are you routing the canisters for the front shocks? I just bought the FOX's but I'm not real psyched on the stock mounting position.

thanks
Ken

They should do it at Pismo Beach one year. The Bugs cartoons where he comes out of his tunnel with a map would be cool on a whole new level. Bugs and Daffy in an Rgruppe car en route to Pismo (above ground for a change) would make a great poster too.

Kojo - we weren't stoked about it either. This is how we are doing it:

Does the shop that is doing your car sell those roll bars? I would be interested, if that is a complete bolt in bar that is pretty cool - especially like the tie on the B pillar.

Please let me know

They custom made it for me... But I am sure they could do the same again.

One of their expertise is building roll cages for racecars. My roll bar is built with the idea that if in future I want a full cage I (well they) can always add to it.

I will ask Keith to chime in... though as he's really the expert.

I can PM you some more infos if you want.

SCHNELE 04-20-2007 01:45 PM

Thanks RDANE, I am in Michigan and Curt Egerer, and a few others made it from here. I would love to have a similar event here in the Midwest, while not the PCH I think the Tail of the Dragon to shake down Matteo's beast would be nice. I would buy all the Chimay or Duvel Matteo could drink to compare notes on our cars.

911teo 04-20-2007 02:49 PM

Tail of the Dragon eh? How about the second weekend in June? 9-10 June... We can do the Dragon and then the Skyway....

kojo911 04-20-2007 04:47 PM

Kieth,

to mount the Fox's inboard did you have to lengthen the line to the canister?

Thanks
Ken

SCHNELE 04-20-2007 06:35 PM

Matteo, I would be game for that. I think it would be a great show and tell for an NA build and a Turbo build. Do you think it will be ready by then?

911teo 04-20-2007 06:56 PM

The car will be ready all right. It really depends on the moving to England plans....

UK Caveman 04-21-2007 01:00 AM

Hi Matteo,

Those last photos are making my mouth water! I love those curves over the arches. You mentioned some pages back that you had blanked out the switch holes on the painted dashboard bit (which looks superb by the way!). Where are relocating to the switches to?

When you do get over here to the UK there is a growing Rennlist presence (we manage meets every couple of months in the London/south area), Pistonheads have got a great monthly breakfast meet at a famous 50's biker cafe (Ace Cafe) and there is a PCGB/everyone else meet at the same venue one evening per month plus the PCGB meets (though some of these can be a bit on-inclusive).

Cheers,

David

SCHNELE 04-21-2007 09:38 AM

Another suggestion for your car, the LASER PRO PARK! OOOOH the constabulary will never know what hit them.

mjshira 04-21-2007 02:45 PM

I've posted a few here

This is the only bummer from all I've been reading.....

Top notch 911 build project from the ground-up completed in North America ---- but never sees the pavement here, and is subsequently shipped out of the U.S. ...:(... :(

You've got a lot of friends here - who I'm sure would be glad to look after it - keep it dry - wash and wax, etc.

Just one 'possible' scenario - that would (if desired), keep the car out of the rain and drizzle of UK.

so when's the monday morning update coming?

911teo 04-30-2007 09:58 AM

I have been to the shop today.... Basically the car is done...

Seats are in, doors are mounted, door panels are on, carpets are in...

To do: brake bias adjuster on the dash, mirrors, mount the oil cooler+fan, H4 headlights.

The car will go to the bodyshop again on wednesday to get 2 clearcoats and buff treatment.. I want it councourse ready.

Then we'll just wait for the engine to show up.

I have some pics and will try to upload them tonight...

I love the second one....

petevb 04-30-2007 10:49 AM

What seats are those? The leather covered recaro pole positions? Looks pretty sweet...

jmz 04-30-2007 11:01 AM

So Teo, Did you sit in the car and make vroom vroom noises?

Very nice.

911teo 04-30-2007 11:08 AM

I actually did :o :o

It was the 1st time in 14 months... I held the steereing wheel and like an idiot I turned it left and right with a big grin on my face.

The seats (leather colored Recaro Pole Position) are soooo confortable.

I think it was nice (even if a little over the top) to have the back painted in the same ext color...

With the lowered rails and no sunroof I have tons of room for a helmet so we decided to put sliders in (so that my lovely understanding wife all my friends will have a chance to drive it).

ERH 04-30-2007 11:13 AM

That second picture.... is that Jack Olson :))

UK Caveman 04-30-2007 11:13 AM

I need to become your friend when you come over to the UK! ;-)

Cheers,

David
