Heh, reminds me of those old-timey grainy black and white newsreels where the guys are running around at doublespeed.

The first two videos are of a Turbo powered car, not just a "regular" 3.6.

Pretty sure the first two videos are in fact an SC with a transplanted 3.6 varioram. I've seen the car on the board and cannot remember who's car it is.
Looking at power to weight, a 3.6 powered early 911 pushes it into pretty lofty strata. My car dyno'd at 275 RWHP and weighed just under 2200 lbs. Car MFG's don't offer RWHP when they rate engines. Here's my example: 275 rwhp x 1.14 (14% drivetrain loss) = 313 HP. 2200lbs. / 313 ~ 7.0 lbs / HP. How do those numbers stack against other sports cars? I think pretty favorably. From the driver's seat, I'd say so as well. With the right exhaust, the sound is pretty amazing, too. Doug

So what is yup with the whistle in the exhaust note? It looks to be a V-ram 3.6 with out a turbo in the videos..

If you search for the other videos related to that car, the whistle is definitely present. It would be a first for me to hear a NA car with a turbo whistling sound.

That's nothing, if you want really fast drop a V8 in there...sorry, couldn't resist...as to your question, yes a 3.6 in an SC or earlier car is awesome, but expensive to do and it's best to find one someone else has already done and let them take the huge loss on resale. I wanted to do it when I rebuild my 3.0 several years ago, but couldn't justify the substantial additional cost.

Do the first two videos look sped up to anyone else, or is it just me?

a lot of people on the bbs talk about rotating mass, that car has 35lb wheels if not more. Back on subject, i have a B&B headers with a single out muffler converted to dual outs with reduced size tail pipes, and it has an incrdibly quiet indy car type sound. when i had the big tail pipes i set car alarms off when i drove by on a regular drive. anyway, my car is an sc and i can tell that a 3.0 is anemic at best compared to a 3.6 even the fuel injection is miles ahead of the 3.0. I will say I dought i will ever own a 3.0 car again (this is not my first porsche), Kevin

I'll answer this one folks
.....The first 2 clips are when Mike was running his 3.2L with a Turbo, somewhere around 550-700HP. He sold his Turbo Motor not to long ago and bough a V-ram 3.6L..... its NOWHERE near as fast as the turbo, he does say its ALOT more drivable?? whatever that means, I guess with the turbo its like a light switch. There is another clip where he drives into the garage and you can hear his old 3.2 turbo spooling down

Found the turbo clip.... this is the old 3.2 turbo, hate to say it but it would kill a N/A 3.6
The audio in this clip is pure turbo... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6d0kAkq3qw&mode=related&search= |

The clip that Herman found are the ones I made reference to on my previous post. I just knew there was a turbo in there somewhere!

Dave Raum & Carston Naber are BOTH putting 3.6 liter engines in their cars as we speek. Carston is doing his own (with input/aid from Ken Farler) & Raum is having Farler doing the transplant.
I just talked to both of them the other day and they're pretty pumped ! I know you rode in Carston's car with the "old" motor, should be quite a nice improvement !

A 915 won't last very long doing burnouts in 2nd like that.
I love the "more drivable" comment. It shows that more power is not necessarily better. An "all that" car should be balanced IMHO.

James Shira (MJSHIRA on the board) and Slammed1000 are in Indy, somewhere. Both have 3.6 swaps. Track them down. I'm sure they'd be happy to show you their cars. Doug
