Anyone run 16 X 7 Fuchs front/rear - 911SC track application
I recall reading a thread which a member used 16 x 7's on the front and rear of a 911SC with 225's front/rear. Any input appreciated.

I just did a DE with 225/50's on 15x7's. The car handled great and didn't self combust.

You'll find that the guys that drive early cars do this more often.
I have big brakes and a modest budget, so I am going to use 951 7s in the front with 911 7s in the rear for my street tires. For autox and track, I have a set of 7s and 8s.

I helped a friend (StefanS) do this with his car. He runs 225/50-16 911 7's all around since he has stock brakes. The upside here is that you can rotate tires around the car (without necessarily having to dismount) to spread the wear more evenly. Most everybody knows that the rears wear twice as quick as the fronts. The key is to use the same wheel all around as well as the same size tire so you can rotate everything the easiest. He likes the setup alot and had good results at the track with it.
The key to making the 7's on all 4 corners work best is to use longer 67mm wheel studs and 928 21mm spacers in the rear to get the wider track width. Ootherwise your front track width will be wider than in the rear. Here's a good article on doing this Anyone have 928 21mm spacers on a 911? I have a set of four 951 7's with which I planned to do this as well, since I had 993 brakes (now VCI 964 brakes). Once again, the key here is to use the same wheel on all 4 corners so you can best take advantage of rotating for wear. Using Porsche virgin as an example, if you have front wheels that are different for brake clearance, you won't be able to exchange wheels front-to-rear, since the rear wheels won't fit over the big brakes up front. 225's up front need max. negative camber and rolled or shaved fender lips. I run a BBS 16x8 +28mm offset with 225/50 tires up front and have no problems with my -1 deg. of camber and shaved fender lips. The tire is really close to the shock absorber cover, but that's not a big deal. It can always be removed and replaced with a rubber boot if clearance is tight.

I'm still confused a little. If you use 16x7 on all 4, is it best to use the 911 offset for the rears and the 951 offsets for the fronts. I may have misunderstood.

951 7's on the front if you have larger brakes. If you have stock brakes 911 7's will work on all four corners.

OK, thanks. Do they look right that way as far as the offsets, or are spacers needed at all. Don't suppose you could post a pic with that setup could you?
BTW, go Huskers! My dad's family settled the Seward and Grand Island areas back in the mid 1800's. While I was growing up, I remember not a Saturday went by without the Nebraska game being on, if it was televised. Wish they could get back to the glory days of Osborne.

My car is going to be a mostly daily driver with hopefully some track use. I just like the idea of being able to dull the rotations and buying 4 of the same tire. Anyone else have pics of this setup?

If you don't use spacers in the rear, regardless of using either a 911 or 951 16x7 (they have the same offset but look different), the car will look goofy. The fronts will stick out more than the rears.
Again, the reason I said you should use 951's all around if you have big brakes is because then you'll have all four wheels that can fit over the front big brakes. If you use regular 911 16x7 for rears, when you try to rotate by mounting them up front they won't fit over 993 calipers.

I have 7 X 16 on both front and rear of my 78 Targa. Makes the front of the car look fuller and better. No problem with installation - no need to do any mods. The goal of the spacer is of course to push the wheel out further and widen the stance of the car. The biggest slip-on spacer you can get away with safely in the rear is the one I used. I used a 29mm factory 930 spacer and had to use 77mm studs. I found the longer studs to be a tight fit and had to do some tweaking of the parking brake backing plate to get them in there- not happy about that. So i'd suggest you use the 66mm studs and a 21mm spacer. The 21 mm spacer is a factory Porsche 928 spacer used on the cars up until 1989 I believe? They're not too hard to find. Any 928 being parted out should have them available. There's always someone parting out a 928!

A friend of mine has a '73S. The car was delivered from the factory with 7x15 Fuchs all the way around.

'72 T with 951 16 x 7's all the way around, wearing 205/55's. Rolled fenders, -1.5 degrees camber front and rear. No spacers on either end. They are tight, but they do fit. 225/50's are the same diameter at about 24.8", and only .8" wider, so they should fit as well. If I can fit them on both ends of my car, they will easily go under the back of an SC, and should fit the front the same as mine.
