Nope, no need to. The 959 has a four-valve head design that has the plug in the center, similar to the 962 / 956 I believe (they weren't twin plugged either, if I recall correctly).

Hawaii with 3 kids ages 3,2,0, with tickets paid for by frequent flyer miles. Not exactly what most people would imagine when I mention that. But, it was still fun, my 3-year old loved the water slides!

Good question. I'm not too familiar with the laws right now, but I don't think there's any enforcement on those arcane provisions anyways...

I wasn't really going to mention it, but the honest truth is that renting our current house (instead of owning it) has saved me a bunch of money each month - some of which did go to supplement this "car fund". But that is a topic for the OT boards...

Wayne,

I am impressed - the 959 is one of my dream cars!

Last year, I spent a day at Bruce Canepa's place near the Bay Area. He's got a ton of 959's up there in the process of "modernization" (whether you agree or disagree isn't the point). He took me for a ride in one that I will never forget.

In any case, he had 959's taken apart and I was amazed at the build quality and the fact Porsche spared no expense to build the ultimate supercar. It is an amazing machine, and an important part of Porsche history.

Congrats and good luck.

- Mike

- 959 project car with a few things that scared away a bunch of people.

- Hawaii, 100% on frequent flyer miles with the 3 kids

- Tiffany's - that was a bluff that paid off!

Woa, Wayne that is cool. It looks like the hoses that span from the intercoolers (I am guessing they are in the rear quarters where the vents are) are made from the same material as on my 964(5) turbo. I have seen one of those in person, and the proportions looks much better. All in all the ultimate car in my opinion.

What kind of turbos did Porsche use on those? Dang, I have tons of questions, I am really looking forward to the blog.

Congrats Wayne.. 959's are very special... they are not for everyone.. I am glad you have to tinker with it. I am sure I can learn new stuff about one of Porsche BEST 911's EVER!
They are such great machines to drive!

You know for me, it has always been the wheels. I absolutely find the wheels they used for them (959's) completely unattractive. Car overall, nice! Wheels...

Dang, sorry, I feel like I am downing your new beauty. I just wish they had used something different from the factory. Maybe you can remedy that, that is, unless you like the wheels. Just my humble opinion which doesn't mean squat. Enjoy the car!

Ahhhh, man you are living the dream.

It sure would be tough to wake up to this decision:

or

I'd have to get up an hour early just so I could sit in the garage and pick which one was going to make me smile all the way into work.

Congratulations Wayne. I'm happy for you.

You ain't getting off that easy Wayne. Who do you think you are OJ?

First you quote me in your book as Juan Lopez from SCarGo Racing and then you buy a 308... If you want forgiveness my son you'll have to give me a ride (at least on the passenger seat) on that real Ubermobile you got.

Awesome. Congrats and enjoy ... and don't forget to give me a ride

Think I might have to fly in for the first track day, apparently they are amazing cars on a racetrack. My local shop looks after a pair of 959s, plus one of the Dakar 959s, and I have seen a few in pieces at other Porsche garages. They are monumental machines, we'll never see another road car like them.

Congrats Wayne, well done mate, you deserve it after the work you have put in to this place, the books and the store. Great job

As we say in some circles, "that ***** is official." Nice pick-up Wayne, and in the best color too (for a 959 at least).

What amazes me is not how different stuff is, but is how similar they are. I'm guessing that sitting in one and then sitting in a late 80's Carrera is a weird experience because of how similar the interiors are.

Yo, welcome to the club! My 959 is also a project. The paint job is kinda scuffed from sliding across the floor upside down. I recommend that you avoid that sort of behavior.

Yup, my ultimate dream road car AND even the right color.

You will have fun.
