Slight spec change - I must be going crazy, but I have decided to go ALL THE WAY. Some would say I already had, but...I just got my hands on an out of spec 66mm crank, now to be reground to 3 liter crank journals, fitted with custom R&R rods from LN Engineering.

Oh yeah, I am going to use titanium wrist pins, too. That's what happens when you talk to Burn Bros too much. The rotational mass of this setup will be downright juicy. Albeit not to titanium rod spec, but certainly good enough and without the life limit worries that can come with Ti rods.

Between 120g and 150g lighter per pin. Throw that into your calculator for rotational mass at 8000 RPM and you have some serious difference! I don't have the number handy, tho.

Sounds like a great build. Can't wait to see the crank.

Does this mean you are going custom rod journal size (2"?) and rods to increase the stroke? This is like the "supercrank" from henry?

HMM my wrist pins were 112g each. That must means I would be floating on air.

I clearly have my numbers wrong.

These aren't 2" bearings - they are a bit smallish for a non moly crank. I am using the 3 liter journals which are still much smaller than the 66mm crank, but good to go on a steel crank. Henry's moly supercrank is of a material that you could actually use the 1.8" Honda bearings and be fine. Strong stuff.

Wow, how do the Titanium wrist pins avoid the fatigue failure of Titanium rods?

Kenik,

Awesome build, I can't wait to hear it. It should be a screamer.

Thanks much. I put a rev limit on my calculator since it runs out of cam before 8k....

BUT! I like many others can live vicariously thru your threads -- and it is well within my budget to watch.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...look what arrived today! Custom George Narbel headers, with longer custom length primaries with ceramic coating. Just what a high strung, small bore motor needs to make mad torque! These are a Rennsport Systems design.
