Minor update - I am dropping above said turbo into my Subaru Forester and going with something a little smaller for this car. I have finally come to the realization that I can't rationalize a $20K transmission swap to hold 400HP.

It's not mission creep, I am simply adjusting my campaign strategy...when the battlefield changes, you adjust your strategy. You may lose a battle, but still fight on to win the war.

Personally I think kenik just likes having an eternal pile of parts and a full garage.

What would he do if he couldn't post his latest manications cause the car was actually built?

Remember, he has two, AND he's rodding the subie... So this will be the 'almost there' car. Right K?

That was the "jolly, candy-like" history eraser button. In this case it would be the jolly, candy-like bank balance eraser button.

Turbo Foresters make nice daily drivers. Not the greatest on gas but they make up for it in many other ways. I wouldn't mind seeing how that turns out for you, though I'd probably have to look for it on another forum.

This thread is spinning out of control when Stimpson J. Cat is brought in as a reference.

Al, when we gonna see that motor your working on fire up?! Those Daytona ITB seem very tasty. But I bet the adaptation, tuning etc is what will get ya...Unless Al is ready share/sell the knowledge to the neophytes

There will be fire

It's coming along. I have it on the test stand. It's getting plumbed, next weekend will be wiring, so still a week or two away from fire up. I'm using Megasquirt as the EFI controller/ECU, so tuning will be by laptop. So far I'll be using an O2 sensor, MAP and throttle position sensor(s) for feedback. Once I get it running decent with the stock ignition, I'll incorporate a Ford EDIS coil system, fired by the Megasquirt.......he said confidently.

There will be fire.................controlled or otherwise.

How about we do it as a $16k transmission and you cover the car in our stickers?

Thanks Mark, Nice to hear from you. I've been attempting to get a nice, relatively low cost ITB/EFI kit together for quite a while now. When a local friend Tony (Wolverine) heard of my project, he volunteered to be the Beta tester. This engine will eventually make it into his IROC clone.

From this:

Kenik,
Sorry about the hijack.....but I was kind of invited in.....and then I got carried away.

Regards,

Hijack is totally fine! I will say that this little project deserves its own thread, thought. VERY cool stuff.

Matt, LOL! Would love one of your trans we will likely still need to talk about a 5 speed gear set for the Forester.

I am fully expecting to see a Subie motor in that "S" before this is all done.

Dave, you were right in regard to a different motor being in this car, but it is still a Porsche. After a lot of soul searching, I came to relaize that I need to simplify my aspirations based on limited time. So the turbo is dead, for the 911 at least. There is a LOT of good news, though.

I have completed the purchase of this motor, which will go in the 'S'. Similar to the original motor planned for this car, it gets the motor out of the way economically from a money and time management perspective. Keep your eyes peeled as there will be a number of top shelf parts that are no longer needed going up for sale soon. See below, as well...

The turbo in this thread is going into my Subaru, but the Subaru motor will STAY in the Subaru. Nothing like a 375 WHP Subaru Forester, right? For those who care, the build is here...

So, things move forward and I can begin wrapping up all of the non engine related specifics for my Porsches. I feel...relief.

Stay tuned regarding progress and parts.
