After detailing the rear interior, which is very difficult to do when the seats are in, the seats went in. These are GTS Classics reproduction Sport S seats in black leather with houndstooth cloth inserts. I think they're stunning and the quality is outstanding.

I ordered some floor mats in black herringbone from cocomats.com.

Now that the interior is done, the next big job is upgrading my TB's to 22/29 and setting the ride height. Oh, fun fun fun.

The Oslo Blue on my car isn't showing up quite accurately in the pics I'm taking. Not sure why. It's actually less bright than it appears on a computer screen.

Great job! That looks really fantastic! I bet you're having dreams of things on your checklist at night. Well, your list has got to be getting much shorter! I hope to see this is person and at a local get together some time!

Cheers,

She's looking great Dave. The carpet install for me was the worst job of the entire resto.....I hated it and had back pain for months after it

These seats look awesome !

I hear you, I hated this job. I had done it once before with a kit I got from World Upholstery (made of OE sliverknit) and that one was 10 times easier because it fit better and the material wasn't nearly so stiff. I hope I don't ever have to do carpet again!

Actually I'm tossing and turning all night thinking about the checklist. It's getting shorter, but for every 2 things I cross off, another is added.

When it's done, you can be sure I'll be taking it to the local gatherings to show it off. I'm really looking forward to that day.

It is really starting to take shape. I know what you mean by working down the checklist.

Looks really good.

Did you have any issues with the duck tail rubbing under the rear window when it opened, and if so, how did you resolve it? My lid, by the same manufacturer, rubs as I open the lid. I've tried to add shims, but no joy.
You've done a great job on your car.

Jon, mine does the same. I think I may have to do some surgery on it to make it fit right. Good thing I still have my stock lid.

Mine doesn't rub, but the body shop did the installation so it's possible they did some shaving that they didn't tell me about. However, I just took a close look and there's no evidence that I can see that any modification was done.

Porschenut, Thank you for the reply. I've tried shimming the lid by as much as 5/16 inch, and it still rubs.
Tom, I'm starting to think my hinges are bent from carrying that whale-tail and double lid shocks over the years, but if anyone can figure it out, you can. Your car is looking very good.

I'd love to Tom, but it's not finished yet. This weekend I'm putting in new torsion bars and setting the ride height. Next week or two it will get aligned and corner balanced, then the decals go on and THEN it will be ready. So, how about Next month instead?

Yep, I have the same issues when taking a photo of my car! Here's some variations...

The last one is the beginning of my current project - returning it to Ossi Blue.

Very, very nice work!

Did the same thing to my 85' model a few years back and now finally getting it on the road. Your photos sure bring back a lot of memories.

I had the same problem with the ducktail on my car. The rear edge was too flat and would catch when opening. I shimmed it to clear at the back but then it would sit about a 1/4 inch too high on the sides. The body shop that painted my car had to reprofile the back edge to get it to fit.

Sorry for the hi-jack - car looks bootiful.

Here are some pics of what I did over the last couple of days. I cleaned up the hard oil lines and jack tubes, and painted them black with VHT engine enamel.

And today I upgraded my stock torsion bars to 22/29 Sway-a-way bars. About a year ago I did a complete suspension refresh so all the other suspension components are new.

For some reason I got lucky and the ride height came out perfect the first time!

It pains me to see how quickly you're moving along:P

All I got done today was to strip my original(non duck) engine lid, weld up the 6 holes for the 911SC emblem, fix a couple dents and primer it.

Great thread! Enjoyed watching the progression into a beautiful car.
I started my carpet install this morning. Been sitting in the box for 4 months, finally warm enough to work. But immediately ran into a BIG problem. Looks like only the rear deck piece actually fits. Everything else looks way off. I wanted to be different and went with light gray German Squareweave. I really looks incredible, but if it doesn't fit......
I emailed Autobahn to see what we can do, we'll see.
Here's a pic of my 87
