How old are your wires? Like I said above, if they are over 5 years old, chances are they may be bad. I know they aren't cheap, but they are the next thing to change. Generally you can't see or feel if they start to deteriorate. I would have done the cap, wires and plugs at the same time to save labor time. Now you have to go in there one more time disconnecting and reconnecting them on both ends. G

Beru ignition cables will make any 911 ignition challenged. Add rain and the situation becomes magnified. Cheers, Joe

89cab, make sure you save all the parts you replaced up to now. If your problem turns out to be different than ignition-related, you will have a stock of known, good used parts that you can use to diagnose future problems....without having to throw money at it. Many people here like the Magnacore, BTW....the Clewetts have a good reputation as well.

Also, you might consider sealing your distributor cap at the perimeter where it meets the distributor with Ultra Grey sealant to prevent moisture ( whenever it rains ) from getting inside and causing your problem in the first place. Another problem area are the rubber boots on the distributor terminals that have a tendency to wick water when wet causing shorts on the cap. OK,just installed new Magnacor wires, and I have to say removing the old wires was a *****.. there was a fastner under my A/C compressor that I could not get to, in order to remove the old Beru wires,so I had to cut them out,the left side was easy but right sucked..I can feel a big differance it seems like more power, WOW!!! Hasn't rain enough to tell if that was the problem, but I am glad I got to replace them..

AC compressor is easy to unbolt and get out of the way, I usually get it loose when fishing the ig. wires in/out of there. Is it your opinion that the new wires fixed the problem? Is it running smooth now?

If it gives you problems again "post 19" I just had a speed sensor puke out finally after chasing an intermittent problem. A quick test will tell but only if it is bad when you check it.

Also my next step if the problem returns is to replace the sensors..
