First time engine drop
Engine is coming out for a broken head stud, SSI's , reseal, de-smogging, and a growing list of "while its out" items. Followed Wayne's book and all was straight forward.

Today a little clean up before going after the studs. Mineral spirit rub down then blasted off with the pressure washer. Exhaust was removed without breaking any studs. Heated the nuts to red hot with an oxy/acetylene torch and they came right off.

Progress report
I've had some time to work on the car lately so here is a little update. Engine was stripped down to the studs and all lower Dilivars replaced with steel. Broken head stud defeated Cylinders are back on and I'm waiting for the baffles to come back from powder coating. Cleanup of the engine bay and new sound pad installed. Bilsteins have been sent off for rebuild. I met up with Ed M , aka Ivangene and had him put in a set of his Derlin bushings in my shift coupler, Thanks Ed!
Christmas came early :D Derlin Shift Coupler ala Ed M Picked up a 2 out Monty to go with my SSi's. I'm not sure I want to go this route yet but it sure is a thing of beauty. The PO had cut the outlets off and had them rotated up for his early car so I'll have to cut them and rotate them to clear the SC bumper. I'm hoping I can get this thing back together before the rains set in! Cheers, Thor ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Shroud Krylon overhaul
Matt,
I degreased with mineral spirits. Wet sanded with 220 grit. Final rub down with acetone then applied a couple coats of Krylon gray primer. Color coat is Krylon Banner Red applied in several light coats until I had good coverage and then one good coat to blend it all in. HTH Thor ![]() ![]() ![]()

Looks great. Will the paint hold up to the engine temps?

it does look awesome but I'd be concerned about the heat too...giving off fumes etc. I'd use engine primer and engine paint.

915 cleanup
Spent most of today with a toothbrush, mineral spirits, and the pressure washer.
I'm running out of things to clean up. Must be time to start putting things back together. TJ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
