Also, I just noticed, are you building this in a room in which you can roll it out of? I don't see any large rollup or push aside type of doors!!

Engine will be based on 928 S4, 5.0 V8 twin turbo. Porsche built one, I don`t think they raced it, so this might be the first one. If someone out there has some information regards to this 962 V8 Project by the factory, please help With information. some more Pictures:

Thanks for the update! Been wondering how the project is coming along. It`s an amazing build, a dream for many. Really sad I couldn`t make it to the little showcase you had last winter. -Thomas, Voiebyen

I don't have much info, just these pics.

First one is from this book:

Briefly discussed on this page, FWIW: My RCR "DPE-962X" 8500 RPM -1500HP Engine Build *lots of pics* - Page 7 - GT40s.com

Also, Joest put a V12 in the 962, but not for long.

Klym graciously allowed me to view their original Porsche factory blueprints for the 962 tub. He then proceeded to tell me about a little known project he worked on with Joest at the end of 1991. Rheinhold Joest decided to install a Ryan Falconer V12 into one of his Porsche 962s. The Falconer engine was chosen for its low cost ($45,000 crate motor) and power (more than the 962 turbo!). The combined length of the Porsche 962 powerplant and bellhousing was such that the Falconer V12 could drop straight into the 962 chassis with just the addition of a small spacer. The car tested at Roebling Road and Dave mentions that, "The Falconer V12 sounded just like a F1 engine!". Klym even called Rheinhold Joest from the payphone at Roebling in order to allow him to hear the glorious V12 in the back of the Porsche chassis. Alas Porsche got wind of the project and put the quash on it. Ahhh, the might have been....

Porsche built a handful of twin-turbo 928 engines for Offshore marine racing.

This site might have info about the V8s in the 962, but for some reason they've decided you need an account to read their articles (didn't used to)

BTW, your project looks great!
