Bitte ein Bit
|
Just pulled the car out of storage after two years, new tires, oil change and all seems well. I will post a "start up video" for everyone later... Little(?) smoke but overall went well:
![]() Don't have clothes or furniture in the home we are renting but immediately went and got something to put in the garage: ![]() Added some "space" so we can carry camping gear, etc on our drive across the country. ![]() ![]() I have been asked three times this week about the Yakima BasketCase so thought if others on here were looking for more room for gear, bags, Christmas trees ![]() Erik |

Replaced the old comfort seats with some newer Recaros. The fabric is a huge improvement over vinyl on hot days and the seats are a lot more supportive and comfortable. Gained about an inch of headroom too. New door panels, early manual door lock pins and manual windows. It's mismatched now but eventually it will all be black with an RS carpet kit from Autobahn.

Got lucky and found them used at the upholstery shop. They are Recaro Specialist. You can get them new for $900-1200 per seat depending on fabric and options, you need the sliders too. Recaro Speed is nice too and easier to find used, but looks more like a race seat.

Blaupunkt out and Pioneer in today.
Factory radio will be sent off for service and reinstalled some day. Anyone have a recommendation for 1988 911 original radio service in SoCal?

Drove it for the first time since January. First day with no rain that I had time. Added a quart of oil, added a b- disconnect. Wondered why it backfires.

Finally got around to installing the JWest headlight relays I bought over a year ago. Install was fast and easy.

Is that a Bendpak mid rise? I just picked one up but have yet to use it for an engine drop. Also, Where did you pick up the ‘bib’ to put on your fenders? I would love to have one of those. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What did you do to your 911 today?

Yes sir it’s a mid rise Bendpak lift, I purchased a dunnmar but learned you get what you pay for with 2 leaky hydraulic cylinders. I purchased the service cover from a member on the forum here. They come up sometimes and I believe it’s made by Colgan if I recall correctly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Awakened after 4 months
60 deg weather brought out my urge to pull my ‘79 Targa out from under its cover in my garage. Had my battery on an Optima tender outside of the car, so I re-installed it and crossed my fingers - fired up on second attempt and settled into a nice idle.
First project was to replace the front seal across the windshield frame - it was for a 964/later, so I iremoved it and replace it with one of Dan Petchel’s retro seals. Placed my newly restored (by Dan) top on, and voila : ![]() Next was to remove the wheels and replace the center caps with caps that I had painted during the winter. Not professional in appearance, but I like the look, in particular given the color of my 911. ![]() ![]() Jason
