Agreed, somewhere along the way I was having major issues with pedal travel full throttle etc. and shortened the stop. I have finally got a nice smooth pedal with full throttle.

I plan on adding an adjustable stop bolt on the footboard. Thanks.

Shifter suddenly started rattling and feeling sloppy in my '88 and I knew exactly what failed - the shift rod bushing. So this past week I pulled it all apart and installed a new bushing plus ball socket piston. Not a bad job as it's all done from inside the cab. Biggest pain was getting the new bushing pressed into the shifter housing. I ended up using my belt sander on the bushing flange, trimming it down a bit. Bushing then popped into place using a wood block and plastic mallet. With these new parts fitted, plus the JWest urethane coupling previously installed, the car now shifts with an amazing feel of precision.

Dave,
Did you try soaking the bushing in hot water?
Asking because I just ordered the kit from PP and was wondering if you did also

Drone,
Got my parts from our host as well. Did not soak bushing in hot water but probably should have tried that.

Cool

Cleaned the nether regions, jetted the carburetors (back down to 170 airs),adjusted float levels, and cleaned the bugs off the glass.

Picked up some plated parts on Wed. On Thur - loaded the main chassis for transport to the painter.
First - some of the 'bling':

Second - destination - painter's

Car looks positively tiny on this 5-ton flat deck. The fenders, doors, hood, rear deck engine compartment lid, & bumpers were shipped separately.
It's been a very long time to get to this date/point on this project. Needless to say "I'm stoked". The car comes back (hopefully) late next week - all this augurs well for a great summer.

Cheers
JB

When you find out that the shop the previous owner used doesn't know how to apply anti-squeel without hosing the seals.

Looks like a rebuild is in the works. (Not leaking, just wet from pre-maintenance washing).

Thanks, I just swapped my sport seats out for these. Very comfortable, light and they get a lot of compliments.

Bought and installed a Rennline Cup Holder because 10 years of spilling coffee was getting old...

What an absolute POS this thing is... Supposed to be a single bolt install on seat slider. The center of the mount is machined too wide and didn't sit within the track as it's supposed to... Angle grinder skinnied it up quick... Then the other 2 ears on the outside of the mounting arm were too fat to slip underneath the track, as intended...

So, after I cut off the ears and narrowed the center of the mounting arm, it fit.

Today, I go to use it and the bottom of the cup holder itself, fell out... The 1mm allen screws holding it together backed out and were on the floor.

I very seldom if ever about manufacturers, but a $100 cupholder that comes fkt up every way from Sunday... TRASH.

0 to 10 rating for quality, 1. 0 to 10 rating for forced ingenuity, 5.

Changed oil and filter and checked/adjusted valve lash on my '88 911. Also wet media blasted all 4 valve covers while removed. Refilled with Amzoil 15W-50 synthetic.

[QUOTE=Matthew_VA;11741443]hit a deer...

I also hit a deer a couple of years ago, in a MC40. He was racing me and then decided to cut in front of me and I knocked him off his feet, he fell on the hood and he slid off and off the road. He survived as when I returned in opposite direction he was no longer on the side of the road. I still drive the car but with a wrinkle on the hood.

Rebuilt my weber's last winter. Been tinkering with the jetting since. Got the idle jetting perfect. But, the transition, at about 3000, to the main jet has been going lean on my EGT with a little roughness. So with the help of Pierce Manifolds, I got some main air correction jets to play with. Other than the pain of removing the top of each carb to replace those jets, I've got her running sweet now. So finally with the summer wx in Oregon, I'm out driving her again.

Confirmed, cleaned reinstalled positive battery terminal I thought was responsible for intermittent no start, only to over tighten and crack negative clamp, which was probably already cracked and the cause of the issue in first place! On the positive side, no pun intended, I should be ahead of the game after cleaning-will know for sure after installing new negative clamp tomorrow.

I would replace the entire cable. I have seen corrosion all through a cable causing long term problems.
