Cage out again and is now at the painter to get powder coated... Time for more cleaning:

I recieved some special aluminum half-of-a-hinge from the US. Now it is time to get them on the doors:

Testfitting doors

The fit is really good! But requires a little work to match the fenders...

Hey christian

Very nice build, and i am excited how it will look when its done.
Mounting some lightweight doors is on my wishlist since years. Very cool.
But i noticed something at your roll cage.
The strut under the roof looks a little bit twisted, or is it just the picture?

Hey Rob

Thank you. It will be good when done!

The doors are really nice. I am exited to see them painted.

I see your point. And it scared me

I checked once the cage got back from the powder coating. All straight!

I bought a set of the first generation big 930 brakes in the US. I still need to clean and check the calipers. But the discs went to my brake guy to have a small layer taken off. They are very straight and look great now:

Off topic, but I just unpacked a box for my dad. A set of 46mm Webers.

They look like pure gold imho:

Great work; money well spent.

But please: cover your beautiful steering wheel ore use an old ragged one during all that nasty work.
Would be a pity if it gets spoiled!

Hey Christian,
I have been following your progress and admiring your build for quite a while. I think that you have some '78-80 1/2 front 930 floating rotors. Have you got the hats as well? What size wheel rims are you contemplating? Just wondering as I have modified a full set myself to fit 16" Fuchs on a 3.2 based build.

Hey Uwon

Yes you are just right. I have the hats as well.
I just took then off when the discs were beeing cleaned. I will run 8 and 9 X 15" Fuchs. And I am also planning for a set of 9 and 10 X 15" Minilights

The door project is coming along nicely:

Left side almost there!

Left side needs a little more:

The tank filler came back from powder coting. And we made a bracket for it. I looks good, I think!

Left door almost there:

Pretty nice fit, I think

The last part of the rain gutter on the right side is now welded on. It still needs some more work, but it looks good!

Time for a little update. Rain gutters are done. Fenders and doors are done. And I am satisfied

Other small things done.

The two holes where the fuel filler connection goes through the fender are closed - welded from the inside and sealed:

The plates where the battery boxes normaly are are now sealed and the fuse box holders are back on:

Thanks, Michael!

Yes, the car is at the painter right now. I am very exited to hear/see about the process and of course the final result

Ja, jeg håber at være klar til foråret. Så vil den være et fast indslag!

Chistian,
I have installed 930 brakes and rotors on a 3.2 Carrera and I don't think that I could have put 15" rims on the front. In my case there less than 10mm between the outside of the caliper and the inside of the 930 16" Fuch rim. Also, I had to put in a 6mm spacer to clear the spokes for the fronts.
If it does not fit, you may have to cut down the diameter of the rotor on the lathe and reposition the caliper holes vis-à-vis the mounting ears on the hub.
Your build keeps inspiring me. My build is co-incidentally also at the paint shop at this moment, albeit its not such an ambitious restoration as yours.
