Same question for you Nippy...

What bumpers and fenders did you use? I'm starting to get the wide body bug... :)

bumpers are fiberglass from Patrick motorsport on the front and I think Getty. I also think they are all the same as in 1 company if I remember. Everybody seems to deal with and be one.

The front fenders are OEM Porsche, the rears are flares butt welded on. The passengers side is a turbo quarter grafted on.. If you go back far enough in this thread you can see all the parts.

I'm doing a build currently and purchased bumpers from one of the common providers. I changed gears and wanted an SC RS front bumper. I purchased the EB Motorsports piece through Rothsport. The quality is far superior to my original purchase, wish I had the rear as well. Night and day difference. Nippy, your car is truly an inspiration.

Is there a good source out there to get steel fenders and/or steel flares?

Did you add a steel flare to the turbo quarter? Or is the driver's side a steel flair to the stock quarter and the passenger side was an actual turbo quarter? Wasn't really following you on that one.

Are you actually wider than a stock turbo out back?

nippy 03-27-2018 08:58 AM

all mine were already on the car but done wrong (lap welded). So we had to cut them off and had to do the correct way (but welded). I think Dansk sells the rear fender extensions. As far as the front not sure. Tyr google search or ebay. My fronts are OEM Porsche fenders. The rears are an extension on drivers side grafted onto stock quarter, the passengers rear was a complete rear fender section.

That body shop really seems like they know what they're doing. I'm in the area as you know :)

Who did you use?

nippy 03-27-2018 10:44 AM

Heritage motorcar restoration
Jason *1 (941) 776-9857‬

deputydog95 03-27-2018 10:47 AM

Is that the same Heritage race shop in St. Pete?

I see the number is a 941 (Sarasota area).

nippy 03-27-2018 11:28 AM

Yeah but they split shops

Motor and tranny are being pulled today as we speak. Will have pics soon. Also engine bay will be repainted while engine is out. Mike Bruns of JB Racing will be building the motor. SmileWavy

Jim Dunham 04-10-2018 12:54 PM

Did the motor that EBS built go south?

nippy 04-10-2018 01:01 PM

It's down on power, 190 hp on the dyno

deputydog95 04-11-2018 06:55 AM

Didn't you have a fresh engine and gearbox for this build?

Hope you're patient :) I love JB but being small, they take a while to get things done. Always a long line... Did JB give you a timeline yet on the rebuild?

nippy 04-11-2018 07:02 AM

Engine was built back in 2011 but only had like 5K miles on it since. Tranny had new syncros at same time. I don't think Mike works at JB anymore. So he will be building it himself. Hes considered the best around here as far as I'm concerned and allot of others say the same thing. So first things first, were going to open it up and see what were dealing with. I had heard from the very beginning from several engine guys that the 100MM slip in pistons leave the cylinder walls to thin and that the 3.3 is kind of a funky engine. Anyway, either way the car is way down on power and needs to be taken care of. Its a life long keeper for me, so I want it to be done and done right. On the low end of things, we go to a 3.2SS, on the high end of things we go to a 3.4 or 3.5 monster. I have to see some #s first. Either way, its not a cheep endeavor...

PS I may have a bunch of stuff for sale soon like the brand new 50MM PMO ITBS and the Infinity ECU with harness (depending if we do a motor that wont use those parts). Think were going to keep it simple and go back to carbs. Also Georges headers and M&K muffler. Not sure yet but will keep everybody posted.

LN Engineering wouldn't make the 100mm slip-in cylinders if they didn't think it was a sound installation. They work fine & especially in street use.

Our local group had a 3.3L 100mm twin plug engine and it was a great engine with Weber 46 carbs + Electromotive ignition. Made 248 hp on the Dynojet wheel dyno all the time. cstreit here on the forum is the one who built the engine himself for his racecar. It used LN's Nickies cylinders (these were machine-in) and JE pistons.

Machine-in cylinders still left plenty of meat in the case. It was very reliable and ran on pump gas (93 octane) at 10.5:1 compression for years. Nothing too exotic at all. Stock SC 70.4mm crank, stock SC rods balanced with ARP rod bolts, Nickies with JE pistons, heads were a little bit ported and flowed to match heads to manifolds to carbs and used stock valves with EBS springs + their titanium retainers. Nice stepped headers with a merged center exhaust using a tapered resonator. It ripped up the track nicely with some close ratio gears in a 2,200 lb 1970 chassis

I wish mine did. Something is wrong with it. Will no more soon.

nippy 04-18-2018 12:24 PM

Engine is out. Tranny is out. Mike Bruns now has it in his capable hands. I also wacked a curb and bent a wheel and my spindle. So I am having that repaired. Engine bay will be cleaned prepped and painted!

Uggggg.....$$$
