Spark Plug Wires

I have a 83 911 that I need to put plug wires on. There is such a variety of them with costs at all ends of the spectrum. Any recommendations? Car engine is stock.

I got Magnecor 8mm Blue, I don't think I did a ton of research and I confess I preferred blue over black and red, but they've treated me right for 6 years now. Not sure if that is a long time or not. I know there are some threads here on this subject too comparing OEM/Beru/others.

I Installed the Clewett plug wires about 5 years ago, just replaced them with beru because they fried at the plug end. I dont recommend them.

Beru for me. Put new ones in 3 years ago and they still work just fine.

I did Berus also. I bought just the wires, and re-used my existing connectors, which were in great shape. The wires came pre-cut to length, and had the screw terminals already pre-crimped onto them. The change-over was easy, and I saved money because I didn't pay for new connectors I didn't need. I got them here from Pelican, and they have been flawless (well into my second season with them).

Changed the original Beru wires on the 70 after 40+ years with new Beru wires. Not because they were bad but because they were old. Still spec ok. On the shelf as spares.

Why are spark plug wires so expensive? At $232, seems like a huge markup compared to other parts. I bet they're like $20 for regular cars.

My 4Runner has expensive wires too, even the Auto Zone branded stuff.

I just went to google and typed in "911 spark plug wires" and they came up.

******** has plug wires from $80 (cheap brand) to $200+ (Standard Automotive Products).

I've been impressed with the red Magnecors. They're the only spark plug wire I've ever used that didn't turn brittle after a couple of years. I only replaced them after 8 years and ~200,000 miles because they were getting pretty dirty, and I wanted some clean ones on my rebuilt engine.

I have had Clewett for eight years or so. No problems but I run copper plugs at only 0.005" over stock with an MSD box.

Typing "911 spark plug wires" into Google leads you to this for $259

Don't know if these are still available or what (earlier) models they fit, but for $79, these new Bosch wires may be worth a look on the Samba site:
