Need a volunteer from September 23-24 group.....

There are already 8 registered participants in the September 23-24 group (see listing). Three (3) of them are coming from Toronto, Canada and a 4th Canadian wants to join his friends in this group.

Would anyone willing to volunteer to move to September 6-7 or 13-14? Please let me know or PM me. Thanks.

September 27-28 group.........

I have received several inquiries about joining this group and they were reluctant to sign up because of the lack of participants. If anyone signs up in the group, I will conduct the classes even if there is only one participant. I am doing this as a passion and not as a business endeavor. So anyone who wants to move or transfer to this group should not worry at all. I am willing to do a one on one session. Just you a me and if nobody shows up, I will take this opportunity to start a rebuild for one of motors waiting in line. Thanks.

Tony

AlKidd 07-20-2021 06:34 AM

Put me down for the Sept 27-28 group. Join in people.

I can't imagine someone hesitating due to lack of other participants. If anything that's a bonus! What could be better than one on one instruction?

Ethan,

Al Kidd misquoted my post. It refers to the September 27-28 group not the over-all Engine Rebuilding Classes. If you noticed, no nobody is in that group in spite of several PM’s and inquiries.

Right now, we have more than I could handle and happy with the number of participants. Looking forward for another great experience with the Pelicanparts members. Thanks.

this seems to be the closest:

tinyurl.com/vmasxskh Hyatt House Philadelphia/Plymouth Meeting

I like marriott properties, many discounts and corporate codes available to make this property less expensive most nites compared to the Hyatt above--a few miles away

https://www.marriott.com/hotels/maps/travel/phlwe-marriott-philadelphia-west/

David Borden 07-28-2021 03:51 PM

Changed my reservation to “Plymouthmeeting” area. Hyatt House as recommended by the host of our class. More expensive but walking distance.

Here is a list of local hotel accommodations:

The closest accommodations would be in the “Plymouthmeeting” area. Hyatt House is so close you could walk from the hotel to the venue.

Carl et al,

Bring your A-game because you will have a tough 2-day course. Just kidding. I like everyone to come with an open mind and enjoy the 2-day course. I will provide note books and pens to jot down your notes. Since everyone has a phone/camera, take as many pictures as you want to remember the tricks and gizmos you will see during the course.

You could then revise or make your own versions as you do your next engine rebuild. You would not be an expert after taking the 2-day course, but you would more confident and prepared to do your next engine teardown.

You will overcome your fear and anxiety about 911 engine rebuild and I guarantee it. If you have the Engine Rebuilding book by Wayne Dempsey, start reading it from cover to cover. That is an excellent reference book you could find.

See you guys in a few weeks. And travel safe specially our 5 friends from the north. They are crossing the border but they going back. Thanks.

I will be there before 8:00 AM to open the door to Suite D. It is the corner room on the ground floor and you will probably see a 911 parked near by. It would be nice if everyone arrives on time. There is a McDonald across the building where you could grab something for your breakfast.

We start around 8:00 AM to 12:00, lunch break and resume at 1:00 PM up to 5:00 PM. There are so much subjects to cover in just 2 days and like to maximize the hands on experience of the participants. I wish I could make it into 3 days sessions but I might not survive it for 6 groups.

The first day, I will have 2 or 3 motors in the classroom that we will use. Everything will be set up and ready for the class including tools to be used. I will need volunteers to join me do an engine teardown after a brief discussion. And so on.

At the end of the first day, I will stay behind to prepare for the following day’s activities. It would be a long hectic day for me. Usually it’s a 14-hour work schedule for me. But I feel great and rewarded when I see people enjoying the fruit of my labor. It is priceless.

See you soon.

Philadelphia International Airport is about 25 miles from the venue and Center City (Philadelphia) is about 20 miles away. There is also a local train from the airport to Norristown Transportation Center. And call Uber to your destination.

If you are interested to join us next month, PM me your full name and email address. Thanks.

JT,

If you could get anyone on the list to switch places for the September Engine Rebuilding sessions that would be great. I have no problem with it. But this arrangement would be between you guys. Please let me know who is taking your spot so that I could make the changes.

The US government just announced this morning that the land border between Can & US will remain closed until Sept 21. That makes it pretty much impossible for me to make the Sept 13 class as Im on the chilly side of the 49th parallel. Can I bump out to 2022?

Al,

If you won’t be able to attend your scheduled sessions due to some government regulation, there is nothing we could do about it. There are 6 Canadians registered to attend the engine rebuilding classes and have not heard from them. Let’s keep the schedule as is and for those affected would have an option to join us next spring (2022).

Tony

Bill5900 08-20-2021 01:05 PM

Tony, I’m happy to see this filling up. I am just not going to make it. You can’t believe what a PITA it is to get from Boston to Philly. Maybe in different times. All the best.

Uwon 08-20-2021 01:12 PM

Tony,
Sent you an email. I too am on the Chilly side of the 49th, so I am not able to attend the September 20-21 session. It's a real bummer for me as I have 3 motors to rebuild. Hopefully by spring, Covid will have been strangled to an acceptable level so I'll be able to join one of your sessions.
Cheers,

Johan et al,

Do what is best for you. Our safety and well being is more important than this engine rebuilding classes. If this travel restriction won’t allow you to cross the border then stay home. But do not completely give up, things might change by next month. If you can not make it this fall, another one in April 2022 is coming up. Probably my last one.

Al,

Use the southern border instead. All you have to do is cross the Rio Grande River and get all the benefits including free hotel accommodation. Just kidding. There are 6 Canadians registered and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they all make it. If not try next time. I am hoping you guys could make the trip. Thanks.
