6 qts? Where did you see that?
901 takes a little under 3 qts. For best mileage use 85w or 90w gear oil. For longest life use 85w 140 I prefer synthetic. Others have other opinions James

If it takes six quarts, either you don't have a 901 gearbox or you're filling the engine as well as the transmission!
 (Or you have one heck of a cooler setup on the transmission.)--DD
