Basic Tune Up Question
I just have a couple of simple tune up questions:
1) I have a 1.7L. Can I replace the ignition cables with the 2.0 from Pelican Parts or will they be too long? The comment on the 1.7 ignition cables are that they are too short. 2) The PO installed electronic ignition which works great. I notice it has a rev limiting rotor. Do I have to replace it with a rev limiting rotor and can I use a normal rotor. Thanks guys and gals. |

the rotor for the electronic ignition may be necessary for it to work
don't know about the plug wires being too short, you may just not have them hooked up correctly

Yes your wires maybe too short. The plugs are located differently in a 1.7 and a 2.0.
If it is a stock dizzy the standard rotor will work fine.

You can use 2.0 wires on a 1.7; the extra length will not hurt anything.
You should be able to replace the rev-limiting rotor with a plain one, but you will lose the rev-limiting feature. This may be a good or bad thing as far as you're concerned. ![]() --DD
