Ignition Kill Switch in Center Console... Possible?

I'm looking into the possibility of using one of my center console blanks for an ignition kill switch. Currently I have Rear Wiper, P Windows and P Sunroof switches in the console.

Can I buy, say, another power sunroof switch and wire it for an ignition kill switch? It is a 6 pole connector. Looked @ haynes wiring diagram - not much help. Anyone familiar with the pin-outs on these switches?

Hoping for a little direction.

Here's a write up on how to do it, where you put the switch will be your choice but I doubt one of those small switches will be able to handle the amperage load neccessary.

so better off going with just something mounted under drivers dash then, huh? I guess it server the same purpose.

Get creative, if you don't smoke redo the cigarette lighter to make it a switch or do something fun with it. Just think James Bond car and lots of interesting ideas for switches will come to you.

if you use a relay then you dont need to worry about amperage

I just bought a car with a kill switch in the console, I would have never found out if I hadn't been playing with the switches while the car was running. Moral of the story, if you do this and sell the car, tell the next owner.

This is true but to someone new to wiring adding a relay into the mix is normally quite confusing not to mention the fact that you have to run a lot of extra wiring straight from the battery or the panel.

I did something along a similar line in a previous car.
I had a button you had to hold down while you started the car.
It was one of my home-made anti-theft devices. It would kill the fuel pump unless it was held down until the ignition switch was turned back to the on position from start.

Mind if I ask what your motivation for this is?
It would be pretty simple to do. Perhaps the sunroof switch is the best choice, since it's the only one I can think of that returns to the center position when released.
If you have a multimeter, just measure the resistance between pairs of pins until you find a set that is connected when you push the switch in the desired direction.

Basically my motivation is to feel sure that when I step outside for work in the morning my car is where I left it. Audible alarms dont give me that warm & fuzzy feeling. A killswitch will leave me feeling a little better off.

I was thinking of a rear window wiper switch actually. So the connection is either 'on' or 'off'. Based on the setup you had, I can see the usefulness of a "hold down sunroof switch until ignition' setup. Although that would require 2 hands to operate if the switch was in the center console.
