Women trying to be equal with men is taking an emotional toll on them.

My partner (we are not married) is an attorney. Her reading comprehension is....hard to comprehend. I think she could read the daily New York Times in three minutes and ace the test. She works as an 'analyst.' They give her a broad idea of some industry or regulation they want to understand better, and she puts headphones on and sits at her desk. Two hours later she is ready to present her findings to the Director and answer any questions.

Another woman in my organization is the best manager I have ever seen. I'm 61. She knows exactly what to do, every time, without hesitation, out-thinking everyone. Like that scene in The
Godfather when Vito says "I want no inquiries made. I want no acts of vengeance. I want you to arrange a meeting, with the heads of the Five Families. This war stops now." ....and then he executes a plan to reunite his family, retire and put his family atop the mob hierarchy.

I think all generalizations are false. But I also think men are just WAY better at what was called Spacial Relations on the SAT test back in 197_. They showed us various three dimensional shapes cut apart and asked what the object would look like when reconstructed. I LOVED that. The woman I live with, mentioned above, would have no clue whatsoever. She can barely use a key to unlock a door.

Women can talk on the phone, listen to a conversation at her kitchen table and write a shopping list at the same time. Seriously. The maximum number of things I can focus on at one time is....one. But only under ideal conditions.

I really do think that, once women are accepted as legitimate candidates for any and all positions (that day has still not come, even here), there will be a great many women clobbering men in many occupational categories. For those who like to click and read, consider Frances Perkins, first female US Cabinet member and still the longest serving US Secretary of Labor. For someone like me who understands how hard it is to change public policy which requires business, labor, voter and congressional approval, her many accomplishments are difficult to comprehend. I almost think that this could only have been accomplished by a woman:

I hope some of you guys are long retired by the time my daughter hits the workforce. She is 11 and wants to be an astronautical engineer. Anybody who wants a homogeneous workforce is a moron, that's not an environment that fosters innovation. Diversity of experiences, background, race, and sex leads to a diversity of ideas, and THAT is where innovation comes from.

Why do you think that day is not here? There were a record number of women elected to Congress this year, and two years ago a female (albeit corrupt one) was completely carried by the mainstream media, Democratic party, and Hollywood, circumventing a man (Bernie Sanders) to win the nom. She did not lose the election because of gender.
Its completely normal to see females in positions of leadership in the private sector as well. Just reading this thread I see many people who've had female bosses (myself included) and work alongside them. Its really not a big deal. But again, those categories will include medical, education, ect. This explains the push for women to go into STEM. Nothing is stopping them. They are simply making different choices.

Diversity in it of itself does not create innovation....Talent creates innovation.

We didn't take Wernher von Braun in order to be inclusive. We took him because he was a bad azz who just happened to be German. See how that works.

I hope she sticks with it, but it's not for every woman. Both my daughters started out in engineering and they both hated it. Oh well! They ended up landing on their feet - one is a doctor and the other an attorney.

My son though, he's an engineer and loves it!!

Each to his/her own.

Good guess, but no. Your points are valid because you pulled them from that crock of shyte Zeke mentioned. And you can't formulate an argument that's not specious or hyperbolic.

So we got Supermans partner who is in law, and cmccuist who has two daughters, one in law and one in medical (all successful btw) ...Exactly what i stated in the earlier posts lol. There is no conspiracy, women for the most part are choosing to avoid the STEM fields. For onewhippedpuppy chances are your 11 year old daughter will mature and decide that being an astronautical engineer is not the chosen field for her. Just like "most" men choose not to enter the nursing profession. Statistically speaking, most of us do not end up doing what we dreamed of as an 11 year old child. But if she want to go there.... doors are wide open. The point is women are not oppressed in the LEAST bit in 2019. Only kool-aid drinking Beta males will believe otherwise.

To your original question Supe, I've had a very large number of people working for me over the years in varying level of project management and technology delivery. The really good PM's are skewed 60/40 female/male. I've found that they are predisposed to success in this area, my gut feeling is simply due to the approach. When clients get irrational they have an approach that focuses on being calm and placid, defusing a scenario, enough to get things back on track, then hold their feet to the fire before they even realize the match was struck. I've had men working for me that were equally as talented, it does cut across the gender. Men need to be taught how to do this women seem to come to it naturally - all I'm saying,

I love Higgs statement about mechanical intuition, that sums it up perfectly. Had there been more opportunity to develop that intuition, I'd bet they'd have equal competence.

Feel free to club your wife and drag her by the hair back to your cave, we're OK without you.

Always here to help the betas and by your responses you are clearly a representative of that group. You tie being an alpha male with physically abusing women. You may be worse off than I suspected. The only thing below a beta is a cuck,,,,just sayin....

It seems that women are better at thinking/organizational jobs than physical hands on (blue collar) type of jobs. (kind of obvious). Of course there are always the small percentage that cross over easily, but I've seen a huge difference on how men and women act/react in the cockpit. As a generalization, most men do much better when the flight profile goes out of the normal box. (and don't get me started on the fact that they get preferential hiring.)

My neighbor has a 7 year old daughter and a 5 year old son. He got his son a tool set for Christmas. The girl got some pencils, paints, etc - art stuff.
The girl has never had a hammer, never had a saw.
Son was proudly showing me a box he made and the girl showed me her art project. My gut response was:
A box. Something useful, something that will endure, it may be around for years.
An art “thing.” Nice but what good is it?”
Outwardly I tried to show equal appreciation for each of their projects, but I wonder how much of my gut feeling subconsciously got through to them.
This kind of thing, early in life, can set a trajectory.
I wish the girl had gotten a hammer and a saw too, and the boy had also gotten some paints.

Single genius vs a team based approach, two very different things. Pretty much every study of team dynamics suggests that diversity within teams tends to foster an environment more conducive to creativity and innovation, all other things being equal. It’s really common sense, if you have a bunch of really similar people with really similar experiences in a room, it almost becomes a groupthink scenario.

Yeah I know, 11 is a long way from 19 and starting college. I’m going to enjoy it for now though, I’m an aerospace engineer and enjoy talking about space stuff with her.

I never had children, so of course I am a top expert.

I watched my cousin raise her kids. First was the girl every parent want, smart, kept her room tidy, made straight A grades, cute, and polite. They thought being a parent was easy. Then they had a son. They were determined to raise him the same way. They did not give him a toy car he asked for, they game him a "action figure" that he set about using like a dump truck, and pushed it around on the floor and made engine noises. He took apart everything he could get his hand on.

The relented, and admitted boys brains are not the same as girls. Now both are college graduates, the girl is a wife and homemaker married to a lawyer. The son is aUS Forrest ranger in Wyoming, he loves to be outside.

To the men who have been my fantastic co-workers, mentors and teachers.... Your actions have helped me succeed and encourage others in my "non-traditional" field. You've made the workplace and the world a better place.

THANK YOU.
