Looks like every other super car for the past 10 years. As usual Chevy is behind the times. Understandably, they have a dedicated base they need to not disenfranchise. But, this thing is just boring...

What is new or different compared to its peers over the last decade or two? This is just Chevy’s take on the Lambo Gallardo from 15 years ago. 15 years for goodness sake!

After watching some YouTube videos on the development from the engineering teams of the past few years, you would think that they were landing one on the Mars. A tremendous amount of wasted time, effort and money. It’s a shame as they had the opportunity and resources to do something really significant.

I am guessing the interior, fit and finish is the usual crap.

I am sure it will sell well and I will see the normal balding 50 something owners thinking they are the hottest thing in town all over again.

Would have some respect if they had the balls to provide a manual option.

Just sad.

Was fortunate enough to be around a LOT of all sorts of cars yesterday. I don't get to do that but about once a year. Ferrari, GT40, Lamborghini, McLaren, racers, ricers, Audis, Chevron, Lola, NSX, Lotus, Morgan, Vettes, Mustangs, Studebaker, Alfa, Cobra, Non-current F1, LM and DTM racers...a great day until a storm rolled in.

I will say that every car (well, maybe not that pristine supercharged Lark) looked so much better in person than in a 2D image likely similar to almost all of us would get along so much better in person.

So, I'll reserve opinion on the new Vette until I see it in the plastic (used to be an insult to 'Vettes) and until then take some satisfaction from knowing that Chevrolet appear to have managed a longitudinal and L-R centered engine placement just the way God intended!

To be fair, good luck finding the new 2020 Ferrari with a manual. I havet seen one. Thankfully Porsche still gives us that option or we could buy a new lotus with a build quality about 100x worse than corvette.

GM seems to try and mess things up sometimes. They do everything by committee. Not one guy at that long table noodled it out that they could do both. They probably thought it would hurt their Camaro sales.

There are some good books about the heyday of GM, and the Corvette. The various departments involved in the creation of the 50's and 60's Vettes hated each other. I'm surprised the car actually lasted this long.

It looks like every other super car for the past 10 years because aerodynamics (now "airflow mgmt.") strongly dictates some basic things about the shape.

Cheby tacked on some boy racer gee-gaws to differentiate it some...

That said, the blue one looks a lot better than the red one. And you cannot get around the price/performance !!

They used some tricks from the old Lotus Y frame and lots of other things. Read thru the jalopnik article I posted a page or 2 back and you'll be impressed, if not stunned.

It is super well engineered and they can replace the body in a couple of years. That chassis looks good for a decade.

Oh. I did notice in fchat in the corvette thread that those guys were getting nasty towards each other much more than I see here, except what goes on in parf

Maybe us Porsche people are more civilized

Wow that’s ironic. Was researching something in the tech forum this morning and came across some RoninLB threads and the photos with the firewood

Saw a die cast Lambo Aventador in a store today and thought it was the new Vette at first glance.

Price, by an extreme chasm. That's new here. Democratization of the mid engined high performance sports car.

Huracan pretty much looks like a gallardo from 15 years ago as well, and more or less every mid engines high displacement car.

I thought hte NSX brought mid-engine goodness to the masses. The original one, not the current ... thing.

The base price of the NSX was the same as this vette (60k) when it was released in 91 according to google. It was still a relatively expensive car, about the same as a 911 I think

But it was still half the price of other mid-engined cars of the era. Much nicer looking than the new vette IMVHO.

Right, but not cheap enough where a slightly above middle class family can aspire to own one which was my point. For better or worse, these things will be everywhere. They will make a ton of them. Mid engine high hp for the 25 percenters.

If there was ever a car that needed aftermarket wheels, this is it. Also wish it had the traditional round taillights.

GM financing to the rescue!- priced so the payment is right on the outer edge of tolerable, certainly.

PS everyone current Vette starts under $56K so $60 in theory is just a modest increase.
