Plus, when he appeared in Detroit in the mid-seventies he was so loaded the songs were almost unidentifiable and people actually walked out.

I like his old music a lot...Heart of Gold is one of my all-time favorites...but since he has become political and started working to keep other artists from making a buck, I don't waste a penny on butt wipe's music. It is sad how karenesqe and fascist that generation of musicians and artists (what we once considered free spirits) have become (regarding the free speech of others) once they become the privileged and elite. They represent everything the music of their day criticized. From being outright warmongers to anti-free speech fascists who parrot the government and their chosen political party.

If you're a lifelong fan of Neil Young, like me, you probably already know about this website; it's all his published music arranged in 'file drawers' chronologically - and there is a LOT of music in these vaults.
https://neilyoungarchives.com/ I don't think any artist has remained as relevant for as long as he has. And he keeps putting out new albums. One of my favorite (fairly) recent albums is from a concert he did a long time ago in Toronto. The album is called Songs For Judy. It's many of his classic hits when they were still new, recorded and mastered to a very high level. I don't think I'd like to meet him; I've heard enough of his interviews that make me think he would be an example of 'you don't want to meet your heroes', but his music has always been a big part of my life, ever since his Buffalo Springfield days. Here's "Pocahontas"

Neil has certainly delivered as an artist. More than almost any musician out there. Many have come and gone, but he endures.
Saw him once with Crazy Horse at Fiddler's Green. If you were born in the 1950's or '60's - As they say "It's the soundtrack of your life." Don't have any permanent favorites, although in general I prefer the electric Neil. Always turn up Rockin in the Free World. Then again, Harvest Moon is excellent. One magazine's opinion.... https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/100-greatest-neil-young-songs-1266840/homegrown-1266852/

After the Gold Rush. It's the Young song that can directly compete with Dylan's best such as My Back Pages. Both were geniuses.

Pocohantas Powderfinger Unknown Legend Cowgirl In The Sand Cinnamon Girl I like them all. Went to a few Bridge School concerts. Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere is probably my favorite album.

A pretty good album (I have it!) Crazy Horse version: https://genius.com/Neil-young-and-crazy-horse-wonderin-bonus-track-lyrics Movie: Dead Man - first couple of watches I found the music disturbing, but a later view that the music was just as visual as the movie. Something like that. |

The lyric is "Us Southern men don't need him around, anyhow"
and, fun fact, the members of LS became pretty good friends with Neil Young later on, and as a matter of record, he wrote this in one of his autobiographies: In Young's 2012 autobiography Waging Heavy Peace, he commented on his song: "My own song 'Alabama' richly deserved the shot Lynyrd Skynyrd gave me with their great record. I don't like my words when I listen to it. They are accusatory and condescending, not fully thought out, and too easy to misconstrue."

I have to agree. The song and its generalizations made me quite angry (as a southerner). LS had a point...a very good point.
