Books of holy readings are interesting, but although some claim they are divinely inspired, they are still the result of human intervention. Are they written purposely to be difficult to interpret? Was it the intention of the Creator to make them difficult to understand? Would it not have been a lot more practical to set down some simple, clear rules? The closest to that goal, in my mind, are the beatitudes. I cannot believe that the Creator as we are made to understand (as far as our puny minds can), is all loving, merciful and forgiving would stoop to giving us such contrary ideas of the way to a good life. So....why do so many sects, not only Christian, preach hellfire, revenge, justification of murder, and so on? Many things fundamentalists of the major religions avow are not even in their "holy" writings, and have their roots in the interpretation of same.

In the writings I've read, things such as hellfire, etc., is only at the hands of the HIGHER POWER (i.e., God). But this STILL doesn't address what the hell I'm saying!!!!!!.....which is no religion I know of dictates to FORCE another to do something....

One person can presume to know what they've read based on writings of that religions that they've read...

Quit twisting what the f#ck I've said already.

I SAID

NO RELIGION THAT I KNOW OF DICTATES TO FORCE SOMETHING ON ANOTHER, IT'S A PERSONAL THING.....IT'S HOW ONE IS SUPPOSED TO LIVE, NOT HOW ONE FORCES ANOTHER AGAINST THEIR WILL TO LIVE.

Now you can change what I've said, you can twist it all you want....but if it doesn't address what I said, it's called...well....IRRELEVANT.

CC...you're getting way too excited here. I am not challenging your statement of advocating force, etc. - I was only responding to your statement that a religion's "higher power" condoned or taught certain principles.

You can read scripture all day long, but what you're reading are words written by man - not some supreme being, so you can't really presume to know anything other than to interpret what man wrote. And everyone seems to interpret that in a different way, so...what do we really know in the end?

Steve McQueen is THE MAN, BTW.

I see your point. Yes, they were written by man.

I was talking about the religions themselves that I know of as written does not dictate forcing others to do something against their will.

I'd do them all.....back then that is.....LOL

the point is you state "official scriptures"

but what makes those scriptures "official"??

what's stopping me , from inventing a religion , and writing a scripture so called through Divine inspiration , and that scripture contains instructions on how to spread the message

for instance, i write that the believers have to roam the planet, and hold a Japanese Katana in front of an unbeliever, and ask them if they want to convert, if not , chops.

there you go , this is my scripture of the holy church of the God of Steel

there, i just busted your dare to find you "a" religion , that has "official" scripture, that teaches converting through violence.

now give me your address, so i can send my disciples

oh ,BTW, I'm the Holy Supreme Priest of my church, you shall address me as your Holiness from now on , even those who are of other faith, simply because if you don't , my disciples will see that insult as a reason to burn down your embassy...

and furthermore, in countries with freedom of religion , it means my disciples can roam free with the Katana's, since stopping them , or imprisoning them would be an invasion of their right to practice their religion...

you didn't address me as your Holiness..
I've instructed my Archbishops, Markus and Ryan to try and hold back the flock... but i can't promise anything...they are quite irate.

going back to your little outburst

you ficking said a lot of things
but the initial post that got my attention , was a generalized one,
you didn't post that one as "those i know" you posted "religion"

Quote:
Religion is supposed to be about one personally living a righteous life....not making others do or don't do something you think they should do. In fact, if something's forced, not done willingly, that is bad in the eyes of God.

this would include my Church and frankly me and my flock resented it...our God says we gotta do it forcefully..with a sword.
and you dissed us by saying in the eyes of our God , we should be peacefull and docile..
that's you, an infidel , twisting the words of our beloved God of Steel...

i hope you are any good at Kenjutsu or something else that can keep you safe from the chops... as i said earlier... i can't hold back my flock, and in fact my scripture says i shouldn't hold them back...

Ok, bottom line.....

Apparently you think there are some religions that dictate force. Based on the ones I know, I have found no evidence of this.

If you can demonstrate there are, I would greatly appreciate it. Anything else is not based on the essence of what I'm saying, and thus, is nothing more than a pissing match attempt on your part svan.

Ball is in your court. Stick with what was actually SAID, or make up more crap.....

you saying my religion is not real?
you saying my scriptures are not official?

you keep bringing up the pissing contest, i mean ,sure , but i do have an advantage in that respect... you sure you want do that??
you wanna wait till it snows, and go for an artyfarty pissing contest, or you want one for the distance prize??

do a search on the board for "stijnism"
you'll find an older thread from back when i first started my church

it was still in it's infant stage then , we changed a few things based on visions i had... but the truth is , i have 2 arch bisschops.... and they mean business...
it was actually said on this board, i'm not making it up.. so back to you on that topic

and again , my proper salutation is "your holyness" , just like you would adress the Dalai Lama as "his holyness" too
or are you that disrespectfull to other religions?

I never heard of your religion svan. I stated religions that I know of.......

Ssince you belong to some sort of a religion, please, provide us source documentation and links and then elaborate the passages that indicates your religion dictates force on others. I look forward to it....

Religions dictate behavior modification. This is a form of control or coercion. This (arguably) is force by its very nature.
