wesayso,
Front seat will not work in CA up to a certain age or lbs, so it'll a long way for the kid to wait. Well, maybe he will not like the loundness at all. Thanks for the pic. berettafan, Actually, I have a friend, very closed friend who doesn't have particular "hobby". He used to call me crazy about cars. He never have to spend the "non-sense" money into any of his car the way I had too. At some points, I "wish" I was borned the way he was so I can save some car's money and a lot of time. But if I switch now, my life will be borring as hell. I tried it before by having only an automatic, so that I couldn't do anything with it. But I was wrong. Soon after several months, I started to add exhaust, filter, chip, suspension, etc. At the end of the day, it drank gas like beer and still drived like an automatic. Thanks god, now I still can have my hobby but a little limited compare to before. In the future, who knows. ChrisBennet, So far, I don't have to choose, yet. We are still doing ok. We talk about problems and solutions on almost anything. I try to lead my family this way since the begining because I believe if I want other to respect me, I have to respect the other party first. Sometimes I won't be successed but if I start the other way, of course I won't get the respectation for sure. I don't want to be a stubborn type of husband, who close his ears to make decision. I can't tell about my future but so far, my wife and I have not have to beg the other on anything. And hope that I can keep it that way. SLO-BOB, haha. At first, I didn't know what "putting the ball in a jar" means, I only have a sense base on the topic from many people. After read several responses, I knew. In our culture, yes. Back there, the man is still the "owner" in many families. Many people who know a little bit of the way american guys treat their women admire them. They think that is the better way to treat their women, not always, but likely. Most guys like us here in the US, the newer generataion, are not the "king" in the family anymore. To me, I think we both need to respect each other and consider each other opinion. Consider doesn't mean "do it". The decision is still on me, most of the times, but it need to be right and agreed by most. I don't want to be the stubborn type of husband even if I can. And for sure I don't want to marry a girl who can't speak up her opinions (the right meaning) either because she's affraid at her husband or she doesn't know anything to say. I am supprise after reading many responses on this thread. I agree with you about "old car bad, new car good". Most women don't know about cars and they don't care. They tend to think old car means break down and new car is always better no mater what it is. And I also agree with you on the "danger" of Lexus. It's not just Lexus but also camry, MB, and all other quite/smooth automatic cars. There are several incidents that I have to drive them alone on a long distant (work), I was never be able to stay awake the whole trip. 1 question, you said 964 is trouble free? I know it's smoother and more modern (better Ac, smoother shifting, etc) than 911 but I have heard they have more trouble than 911 and cost lot more on maintenance and repair. Wayne, yeah yeah I will I promiss . It was a promiss since.. long time ago but it's hard. I have quit several times in the pass for several years each but there always be something to get me back. And when I came back, the dose increased. So you see, there is a bad side of quiting too :lol:Seriously, thanks for advice. SCHNELE, I know I know. Balance balance. Thanks man. 450knotOffice, niner11, nut11, AvonGil, tiwebber, TurboRuf, Good advices. Thank you. nostatic, I don't personally know anyone name Vanessa but I know the girl name Vanessa in the "Vanessa TV show" years ago was cute and sexy as hell. Thanks all. You guys made me feel better... keeping up reading and writing. Good night.

My ex-wife made me get rid of a car, like I said my "ex-wife"

point one - You need to go back to your homeland and hang out with the menfolk for awhile. They would be ashamed to hear you say this. ![]() point 2 - Maybe women know more than you think. Old cars, in general, are less reliable than newer cars. Yes, they are typically simpler and therefore easier for the DIYer to work on, but sourcing parts and dealing with issues such as cis fuel injection have been the undoing of many a hobbyist. Also, there is an attrition of skilled mechanics for the older systems. Try and find a guy who knows cis, let alone mfi vs the garden variety Motronic system. point 3 - Maybe I exaggerated a bit . That said, my 964 has, indeed, been trouble free. It can be more expensive (tune-up = 2x the plugs and other things make it pricey if a shop does it) to work on than my 77 or 72 911s, but it needs to be worked on less. My annual expense for upkeep on my 964 has been significantly less than that of my 72. The key is to find a good one. That goes for any car.I've been where you are at. The only difference is my wife said, "Why don't you get rid of those old BMWs and buy the car you know you really want, a newer Porsche. Get a nice one so you can drive it more than work on it." I love that gal.

definitely sell this one. Then get angry and bitter for about 6 months, then find another one to buy. Then it should take about another 6 months until it gets unbearable. Find a really sweet woman to have an affair with, don't password protect your laptop, move into a converted garage studio apartment for a month, then find a decent 1-br. Reconstruct your life while knowing that you need to lower your expectations on some fronts, while significantly raising them in others. Get plenty of track days in, cycle through a couple of different girlfriends, get a bigger apartment so you (or your kid) doesn't have to sleep on the couch, and use some of the settlement from the house equity to further prep the car.
Did I mention track time? |

Wow... I didn't want to rehash an old thread but I just went through this same predicament. The only difference… she actually wanted me to sell the 930 so she could have a Lexus ES. In the end, I still have my baby in the garage along with my freedom and sanity.
Life is much better now.

after my wife and i moved to florida things just didn't go the way that we planned.......
i ended up selling my 911 to get us by so we wouldn't become homeless, it was never even mentioned by her as an option that we had or something i had to do...... that said.........if your family is being forced to eat ramen noodles because you spend too much money on your car then your priorities are out of whack.....not saying that is the case, if you're taking care of business then hold your own ground..... but if she is being overbearing and trying to make you get rid of something that is "part of you" then she needs to be reminded of YOUR personal being........not that you don't care and it's your way or the highway......it's that she is trying to force you do something you don't want to do, marriages don't work that way.....it's a two way street......you aren't forcing her to get rid of her lexus and get a base model dodge caravan are you? caveman action......

Oh hell yes! And I doubt you'll get your nuts back in the settlement, but you might get visitation rights.
I'm embarrassed for you. You need an intervention.

Sell the car, use the money on blow and hookers, see if she likes that...

LOL - this old thread sure gets everyone's blood boiling all over again! What happened to the OP - he hasn't updated us yet!
A lady that asks me to sell my car (that is not a financial burden) would not be my wife. George |

In the end, I think that is very good advice. But YMMV...

Are you kidding me, kids love convertibles.
If you sell the car under the terms you describe, you will resent your wife for it the rest of your life.
