I cheer for the Canucks and they have, on paper, a real legit shot at the cup this year, leading scorer and if his brother didn't miss 19 games it would have been the Sedin's as the top 2 scorers in the leauge, top goal tender in Lou , all lines are good and our defense is strong even with out Willie, anything can happen but I like our chances to bring our cup back where it belongs, in Canada
|
I'm not sure how they did it but the Bruins have evened up the series. Zedeno at his best, Raask did well, and oh my gosh they scored more than two goals in a game! Go B's!

The bad: They used up their entire 2010 playoff goal quota. |
Boston looked really good tonite. Strong in your face offense and still rock solid defense. Tuukka looked strong. To top all that, they say that Savard will be coming back soon. Dare I get my hopes up?
|
The entire eastern conference is at 3-1. Anyone think that any of the eastern teams will win the next 3 in a row to get to the next round?
|
Predators: Did you see the one that got away?
The phrase "You should have seen the one that got away" is not just for fishing anymore. The Preds had it sown up with a one goal lead, 1 minute left, and a 5 minute major power play. The Hawks pull the goalie, get a goal, kill the rest of the penalty in OT and then score a goal to win it. The Hawks earned that one!
In the meantime, the Bruins forgot to show up last night and we go to a 6th game. |
The Hawks comeback (recovery?) was shocking. I don't see the Predators recovering from that.

Intriguing first round match ups across the board, some great games.

I respectfully disagree--Crosby IS the best overall player in the league--he shows up EVERY game (unlike some other highly talented players who may have more raw talent), has won a Stanley Cup -as captain at an incredibly young age-- scored the winning goal for an olympic gold medal--he has the "it" factor if there ever was one and is easily the most recognized player in the game today.
If sportsmanship is a factor--the guy is the most incredibly well spoken and thoughtful interview--he thinks before he speaks--says all the right things and is rarely not composed. Does he chirp--or badger a ref now and then?--sure--but Gretzky and Lemieux were quite well known for that as well. I don't know what people want or think--and there are some very good young players coming up in the league--and it is easy to believe that Crosby could be overrated--but man, he is the real deal-- and his accomplishments at 23 (!) are pretty phenomenal. I'm not even a Pens fan--I hope the Canucks make it also--but my worry is between the pipes. "Lou" has been better in last game or so--but prior has been pretty average. He must be as good as advertised for the Canucks to go the distance. The Sedins and Samuelsson have been pretty awesome--so there is a good chance at least. |
Was out of town for a few days and didn't want to look at this thread as I taped Saturday night's Pens game. Just watched it last night. VERY shaky but they seem to find a way to win.
Bowling, who is the best? Crosby isn't flashy he just get's the job done. Defensive skills... until last night, er Saturday night, a goal had not been scored against with him on the ice. Right now Canadians up 2-0 after the 1st period, Go Habs!!! Joe, we may be playing the Brunes next round!! |
Watched that Pens game, they found a way indeed. They just kept playing and pressing, impressive comeback. Last year in the Cup finals, Zeterberg out played Crosby, shut him down. Out played him in their last match up this season as well. Crosby took some cheap shots at Zeterberg in the closing seconds, lack of discipline? Crosby is a fantastic offensive player and has tremendous potential, I'm just not ready to anoint him the best player in Hockey. He doesn't always play defense, if you shut him down he retaliates like a 21 year old. The Kid is being treated like the Michael Jordan of the NHL, IMO their are 6 or 7 tremendous forwards, Crosby included. When he matures, well he might just become the best. I like Ovechkin's game as well and wish I could see more of Getzlaf, by the way Malkin's not half bad either. Love the Playoffs.

Mark: Pens/Bruins (if the Caps take game 7) would be quite a series considering Savard is about to come back and there are some scores to settle with Mr. Cook!
Of course Philly/Bruins will be fun to watch because they are division rivals with no love lost for each other and both teams are heavy hitters. p.s. Now that the B's beat your old Hartford Whalers, why aren't you routing for a New England team? |
Montreal beats Wash again, Wow.
Only one more to go, what are the chances? |

The Habs goalie was unreal. So happy to see some game 7's, hope those 4 teams beat the crap out of each other and the games go 3 or 4 over time periods.
Oh yea I am a Flyers fan! Been at this game for nearly 40 years... we had flyers tix from 1968 until 2003... Former head coach Drexel University, currnet coach with the Little Flyers Tier 1 AAA Topics I can speak for days about: Global Capital Markets, especially derivatives!!! Hockey Porsche |
All I know is that I hate Crosby, but he comes to play and he makes others pay attention to him and opens up others.
That being said, I think that my Flyers have a good shot at surprising everyone. They had some ups and downs but at one point they were unstopable. They have been playing playoff hockey since before the end of the season and their coach is doing all the right things. BTW, did anyone else watch the Caps - Canadiens game? Talk about BS diving calls..that's embarrassing to the refs. The replays I saw shows people falling after a penalty was called on the other team already...and then they get a diving call....that's crap. |
Rooster: it was sketchy that the call was made from far away but stuff happens. Halak total won that game for the Habs. They could be spoilers if he keeps playing like that. The Broad Street Bullies are a decent team. Do you think they have enough fire power and is Boucher consistent enough to go the distance?
I'm not sure why people hate Sid the Kid. He's charismatic, a great athlete, and not afraid to get in and mix it up when needed. The only thing I can see is that the media has had a love fest with Crosby and people are jealous. I don't care for Alex the Great: smug, aloof, full of himself. |
