******* punks don't deserve the cup, Chlorine is a corrosive. Total lack of respect, they should be strung up, all of them, not a brain amongsts them.

Several catastrophic collapses of swimming pool ceilings have occurred owing to stress corrosion cracking of stainless steel rods used to suspend them.
The Stanley cup should not even be near a pool because of the airborne Chlorine.

wonder how the chlorine and the Cup will get along?

The long term chemical effects may destroy it.

If you think thats the worst the cup has seen, your in for a surprise. It's nice to see it being enjoyed, which is WHY they let the players have it. It most likely in nice shape since the Red Army wings likely weren't allowed to touch it (or possible see it). Buck, they need a hat with both victories on it? I'm sure there is one out there.

BIRD BRAINS!

I've been in public and private swimming pools my whole life, swimming teams, diving teams. Spent every summer day in the pool during my youth. I don't think I've corroded
There were rumors that the cup was in Mario's pool back in 91'. Doesn't look any worst for wear. If it was an issure I'm sure the NHL would have offered 'advice' for the cup.

Just ordered . Sweet.

It hasn't hurt my diving watch....

Well, it seemed to survive its first dip in Lemiex's pool back in 1991. Hell, they even wrote a book about it:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1572433906

(hint: it doesn't float)

I'm quite sure it'll be fine.

89911 06-27-2009 08:54 PM

Any mention about chlorine damage in the book?:D

Porsche_monkey 06-28-2009 07:22 AM

Far more repulsive and inappropriate things have been done to it. It still survives.

(I still maintain the NHL doesn't own it.)

to soon to say much other than the Devils really need to get a younger goalie. Marty's ego is writing checks his body can't cash.

Who do they get to design those championship rings? Mr T?

Might as well piggy-back off of last years run.
OK... Of course I'm rooting for the Pens but my 2nd choice is Vancouver.

89911 04-16-2010 07:00 PM

Just got done watching the game. I liked their effort, but I really feel that they don't have the drive this year. Two years ago they lost in the finals. Battled back and won the thing the next year against their nemesis in their building. It's hard to top that. I see the Pens play with on and off intensity and that is not going to last in th playoffs. Look for a letdown in either the next game or game 5. They will win game 4 if they lose game 3. I just don't see them putting the hammer down all the way like the last few years.

Por_sha911 04-16-2010 07:25 PM

Marc Andre has not really played well either game. He needs to find his "A" game or they won't be hoisting the cup this year. Alas, my Bruins aren't looking so swell either. Rask is hot but they need someone to fill Savard's shoes. They came on strong at the end of the regular season but if they beat the Sabres it will be in 7 and that will wear them down. The Caps have their best shot ever this year. We'll see...

I tend to agree with you. All except Crosby. He showed why he IS the best player in the NHL. Had the puck for 11 seconds before he dished it to Latang for the game winner. Played goalie and that isn't the 1st time he's done that. I don't think Overcheckin has once done that. Maybe they'll catch fire.

He hasn't been consistent all year. I don't know how many times he's been pulled this year. They won't take him out but Johnson has played pretty good this year.
