It's now a best of 3.

Flyers would have had the first one sided win of the series tonight, but took penalties and got themselves into a 5 on 3 against, and it cost them. Blackhawks really rallied well, and they IMO definitely have the better goaler overall. (When this kid has some seasons under his belt he could be amazing)...but they'd dug themselves too big a hole.

Truth is the Che-cago (bang bang) goaler kept this game a lot closer than it could have been IMO.

2-2.....heading back to Che-cago (bang bang)

The flyers have some tremendous young forwards, and amazing team depth. Great finals so far. But you also saw tonight 2 totally flukey goals, that thankfully, canceled themselves out.

Richards is proving his worth. The Flyers were being out played early and that first goal was pure hustle. The Chicago d-man made a lazy play not protecting the puck in his own zone and he should never let his pocket get picked like that. Same goes for Duncan Keith for not lifting that puck out of the zone and letting it go right to the stick of the open Flyer, thanks for the set up pass.

Both goalies looked fantastic at times and average at other times. Goalies are funny, Niemi could turn out to be a stud for years to come or just be playing over his head for the last few months. Leighton was a journeyman who was never in the right place at the right time or got hurt at the wrong time and never found a home. He may have found himself at age 28 or he may be a flash in the pan. History is littered with goalies that shined for a while and then never went anywhere. It’s a funny position and IMO the hardest spot to play in sports. In 40 years of playing hockey I still can’t understand most of the guys who play that spot. We had a one season wonder in college who was a walk on as a sophomore and we rode him to the regional finals. He didn’t interact with the players off the ice. We wore his walkman in the locker room before games and listened to chamber music, he had odd rituals but he was unreal in the net especially in big games. Then next season he decided he didn’t want to play.

Imagine if that guy had continued on in the sport.

Legendary flyers goalie Bernie Parent had all kinds of oddities about him, as well.

Richards was sensational in the round vs Montreal.

As is Briere. Although not last night. But he is still second in playoff scoring.

m21sniper 06-05-2010 08:05 AM

IMO the Flyers could easily be leading this series 3 games to 1.

If Leighton had not been so absolutely terrible in game 1, this series would be just that.

But, it's not. 2-2...

ALL the pressure is on the Blackhawks now.

The flyers have now come back from 0-3 and 0-2 series deficits in this playoff run.

Sorry Flyer's Fans for jinxing the team...

I'm really pulling for the Flyer's as I could salvage the Habs season by saying that we lost to the Eventual Staley Cup winner.

Ok, forget about tonight and win the next one at hone, as per usual scenario. Then pull the up-set by winning away... Looking foward to see Hossa going for the "Hat Trick":D:D:D

GoFlyers Go ... hey I don't wont to be killed by the home crowd. We never know with those Crazy French Canadian... Oops I'm one of them and you guys got a few on your team.

At 4-2 it's not a done deal... But at 5-2 it could be.

But, as there is always a but, please see my previous post:D:D:D

Tough game, last night, I thought they could regroup and they came out strong in the second but that 4th goal was a killer. The way this post season has gone for the Flyers there is no reason we should have assumed they could win in 6. Chicago knew it was over if they lost last night and they played like it. We'll see the same from the Flyers Wednesday night.

JJ next week we're going to the beach for the week with our good friends and their daughter. I am going to have to explain to everyone why I will be readin about the Habs on the beach, should be fun! Thanks again!

It was tough to watch...

lol, as you know, no such thing as a free lunch.

Local beach or out of State?

What a battle last night. If they both continue to "hold serve" then #7 in Chicago will be a classic.

Chicago got a couple of lucky breaks like when Briere took a high stick with blood. But I suspect the refs are also tired of hearing Pronger complaining. The Flyers are still playing with a ton o' heart and Chicago seems to get into these slumps when they stop moving their feet. So this thing is definitely not a done deal.

I expect #6 to be a body banger for sure. I hope the refs don't have to haul back on the reins to much and let em play.

JJ 911SC 06-07-2010 08:44 AM

For sure as

As the Flyer's will want to play another game but Blackhawk's are hoping it will be their last one.

1990C4S 06-07-2010 09:18 AM

If Philly stands on their blue line and hands over the neutral zone to the 'Hawks in game #6 then it's all over. Chicago got a free pass last night, coming at Philly's D with speed all night.

And a good coaching move to put Toews with Hossa, and Kane with Sharpe. Pronger was -5 as a result.

Buckterrier 06-07-2010 05:49 PM

Hope it goes 7. Has been a fun series to watch. Although the goaltending has been the worst in years in a final.

JJ 911SC 06-08-2010 01:30 AM

Right On

+1.

The goaltending in this series has been atrocious.
