Flyers have already been down 3-0 and come back in a series this year, so anything is possible, but the odds are sure not good.
I really don't care, no one expected them to make the finals, but it would suck horribly to see them get swept for their second straight finals appearance. |
I would be stunned if they got swept. Honestly.
|
They should have won game 1, but Leighton totally sucked.
|
They could have won game 2 also but the Hawks goalie stood on his head. Tomorrow's home game for the Flyers will be the first Cup final game in Philly which I will not be attending since I was 10 years old and my Mother got the nod over me in game 6 of the Bruins series in 1974.

And we know what happened to my Habs...

Welcome back trader220 |
Well i have said that the goaler is the most important player in all of sports.
This series has shown that yet again. |
Pretty darn good game last night.
I was shocked the Flyers pulled off the W in OT. My gut was telling me they put 150% on the ice for the first 3 periods and that the tank might be running low. I almost keeled over and died when that puck hit the post and just slid right along the goal line. Lets hope the series can go deep. The more hockey we get to watch the better. |
Yup lotsa heart from the Flyers though the Hawks took too many penalties. Carcillo needs to STFU and Pronger may want to let up on the cross checking too. But Byfuglien is so easy to prod into a slashing call I guess I can't blame him for trying.
That reviewed goal was a real game saver for the Flyers. Without replay they would have been robbed. |
I didnt think the Flyers would wilt in the OT they had their backs to the wall. Its not a whole new ball game yet but if the Flyers win tomorrow night then we got a new 5 game series. Personally I think the ****ty ice in Chicago hurts the game in general but since the Flyers are not used to playing on that slop it hinders them more.
The Neimi is fantastic, as a hockey guy its amazing to watch him make some of those saves even if it hurts me. I know they cant do it but I would take a 2 minute'er and take a run at him to try and knock him off his game. John Madden proves again why he wins cups. Our boy Giroux proving he is a future star, and Leino looks like a steal. Very entertaining hockey!! I am sure my over 40 game at 10:30 tonight will be on the same level...... NOT |

I agree, that was a good game. Very back and forth. Philly showed some heart. I agree that Pronger needs to stop cross checking, and slashing every player that skates within his 7 foot long sticks radius. Its in his DNA I guess.

Why would you quit playing if you have to drop down the over 40 B? I've played in the over 30 A and B, and to be honest, actually enjoy the mentality in the lower leagues a little better. Let's be honest, it is not like we are getting a paycheck, or a nice big signing bonus at the end of each season.
And I think Pronger should stop because it doesn't add aything to the game. There is a time and a place for it, and to do it to everyone at all times is just not neccesary. |
I guess my ego wont let go down to that league easily. I watching some of those games before we go on and I look at the quality of play and laugh and tell myself if thats how I am going to play then forget it. We'll see what I say at 50 and older.
Why should pronger stop from clearing the slot / crease? Thats part of playoff hockey, if you want to stand here on X then you have to pay the price. |

Glad you were more confident than me. I didn't think they'd wilt so much as just Chicago would have fresher faster legs. I appologize for my momentary lapse:) I can't watch tomorrows game because I need to sleep Friday night for a gigantic exam all day Saturday. Going to record it and watch it after the test though. |
I'm not talking about clearing the slot, I have no problem with that. There was more than one instance of the Chicago player skating away from him when the play was moving outside the Philly zone, where Pronger was slashing. Now I know he is trying to get a reaction, but it is just indictive of his playing style, just not something I have never liked.
I guess I understand on the ego, but I have always enjoyed teaching both younger and guys my age the game. I love it too much to quit. I wonder if its possible to skate with a walker? |
Make sure you tell the folks you are with not to mention the game, and don't turn on the radio or tv.
I can't tell you how many times I've shown up for my beer league with a game tivo'd and someone has inadvertently mentioned the score! |
I used to coach at the college level and I enjoyed that a whole lot. About 5 years ago a guy who I played one summer with on an over 40 team walked down to say hello between periods at a Flyers game. We started talking and he asked if I would be interested in helping him coach a 10 year old team for the National AAA summer tournament. I hemmed and hawed because I didn’t want to coach kids and deal with parents. My father who was with me at the Flyers game suggested I give it a shot since it was a 12 week schedule of practice and games leading up to the tournament. Turns out agreeing to help coach that team was one of the best decisions I ever made. I get a great deal of satisfaction out of working with the kids and teaching them the game that did so much for me throughout my life. Naturally I have been the assistant with my friend’s team since signing on for that 12 week gig 5 years ago. How many Jewish kids from South Jersey got to travel the country and Canada and play with some really great teams, then go away to prep school to play 27 to 30 years ago? Yea there is a % of parents who are a PITA but for the most part they’re pretty nice people and they have to be devoted to the team since hockey is an 11 month sport. Playing for the team where I am the assistant is huge expense in time, money and travel so the parents are dedicated. Coaching and working with the top level kids has been a fantastic experience.
I hate losing and we’re a “middle aged team” in the over 40 league its getting tougher and tougher to win vs the “we’re only just turning 40” teams |
JJ is a man of his word. Our little bet on the Habs series is paid in full. I know have a little light reading for the beach next week. He sent me a copy of ...
"The Montreal Canadiens, 100 Years of Glory" Thank you very much sir and I'll be in your fine city this fall and hope we can have a beer! |
