Hawks!
|
Oh well.
|
Might be the weakest goal ever given up to lose the Cup at home.
The goaltending was horrible but the other parts of the game where fabulous Steve |
great game, great series, best wishes Fliers, I'm sure we will see you back here soon. But for now, congrats Black hawks! congrats. (Now about them Cubs....).
|
There is always...
... next year. Go Habs Go :D:D:D

Congratulations to the Hawks fans it was a very entertaining series.
The goaltending in the entire series was average at best and Niemi was just a little more average than Leighton was and that was the difference. Late in the third after the tying goal and early in the OT Niemi made a couple of better saves then Leighton could make and that was the bottom line. That last goal probably cost Leighton a chance at a long term contract since I for one don’t believe the Flyers can win a cup with him. On the other hand there are no pedigree goalies out there to be had this off season from what I recall. Thanks to all my supporters here and again to JJ for the Habs History book. There is always next year. Congratz to the Hawks |
Yup hats off to the Hawks.
I thought Carter had the game winner on his stick with about 1:20 in the 3rd period, but Nieme's lunging blocker caught it. I really thought the series was going to game 7. I was hoping to get a new pencil holder for my desk, but I guess this 30+ year old thing will have to do. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1276179377.jpg Congrat's to the Hawks. |
The best team won. On a crappy goal, but the 'Hawks were the best team.

I saw two totally evenly matched teams. IMO, neither one is good enough to claim they are in any way significantly better than the other. Yet one will go down in history, the other will be forgotten. |
I thought Lord Stanley was a guy into Disciple, who like to get his butt whipped with a riding crop..
|
No, you're thinking of Lord Mosley, formerly of the FIA Manor.

Nothing left to whip...

Congrats to the Hawks. Was a fun playoff season. Underachievers, my Pens, the Caps, Sharks as usual, and Canucks). And of course the overachievers, Habs and Flyers. Hossa got his ring. Until next year Gents... |
Kane's goal was very similar to Crosby's game winning goal against the US in the gold medal game.
|
Congrats to the Hawks.
I was glad to see them beat the Flyers-they have gotten away with too many cheap shots this post season. Pronger looked shocked that he was being called. That first penalty he did everything except stab the other player. The second penalty was a little soft but it set the bar for everyone. Besides, they knocked out the Bruins so I couldn't let that slide. |
Let's go Flyers!!! (But congrats to the Hawks)
Flyers need to bring Bobby Clarke back. Or Reggie Leach. And throw in Mark Howe and Bernie Parent or Ron Hextall for good measure. This was as talented a Flyers team as they have had since their Cup wins in the 70s, with the exception of goalie and some of their stars not coming through when it was all on the line.
Blackhawks were outstanding. I hate to admit it, but the best team won this time. |

Crosby shot quickly off a pass for the corner and caught the goalie with his legs spread as he moved into position. On Kane's goal the goalie had all day to get in position, and actually was in position, then seemed to turn sideways as Kane approached. Neither goal was a classic, but Kane's, by virtue of his bad angle, and the time the goalie had to get ready for the shot, was much much weaker. Plus, Crosby's goal cemented the reputation of a nations hockey superiority for four more years, while Kane's was just the end to a long Chicago drought. ;) |

The starts got stoned by Niemi (on occasion) and had to play the leagues best (as a group) defencemen. |

Technically it does not belong to the NHL. But I know Tabs knew that. |
