Goalies dominate hockey. Especially in the playoffs. |

Red hot goalers get into players heads and force them to try and be too good. Seen it 1000 times if i've seen it once. |

He plays the same way in the reg season - shoots from most anywhere regardless of the chances/consequences. SOG is a very misleading stat. Kabaddi raiders are more important than goalies too. :D |
Any scorer will tell you that a hot goaler makes them try for the perfect shot.
|
Gretzky used to say you beat a hot goalie with screens, probably a little of both in there.
|
Anyone how doesn't score a lot of goals will tell you all they see is the goalie, real goal scores only see the net.

Doesn't matter how hot a goalie is if he cannot see the puck- though a strong positional goalie can still be pretty effective even when screened. The acrobatic types not so much. |
Jeez, getting a little tired of all this goalie talk. Bunch of prima donnas if you ask me. And yes, I do play hockey.
Speaking of goalies, have you guys seen this: http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2009/01/25/teen_goalie_designs_pads_to_trick_shots/ http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1240514005.jpg Now lets start talking +/- Ha! |

So the Pens let one slip away, Detriot looks vulnerable, the Sharks are sushi. We'll getem' Saturday. GO PENS! |
Yes, after two consecutive shut outs, Detroit lets some in and they are vulnerable?

One can always hope!!!!! ;) |
Looks like I was right: the Wings borrowed that broom from the Bruins.
Safe bets: the Rangers will win in the 6th game. The Pens/Flyers will go 7. NJ will win in the 6th and the Canes will be standing around wondering what happened. No one else want to risk making predictions (other than cheerleading with "Go Pens")? |
I don't get to see Rangers/Caps games(farmer-vision), just highlights but if I ever said anything bad about Ovechkin - I take most of it back. He's a supreme talent and some of his goals are just amazing.
|
What a game for the Pens. Was driving back from Lime Rock Park and listening to the game on XM. Got to watch the 3rd period. Amazing what a fight will do for a team.

And WTF is the deal with slashing now? Your composite stick breaks so it's a slash? Looks like the ref's think all the players are eight years old... |
Those CF sticks are too expensive to let the goons trash them. It is interesting that some games are more "wide open" than others. Sometimes the refs just let them play and it gets physical but exciting.
Looks like the Rangers have lost their focus. I may be wrong on that one. No matter who you are rooting for, there is some great hockey being played. |

I find it odd that the teams pay for the composite sticks. Big bucks. Even though lots of players get paid to use them, the team still has to buy them. Ball park numbers: $150 per stick, 2 per game, 25 players, 82 games. A stick budget of about $500,000 per team....lets go back to wood. Or aluminum. |
I agree-- be like MLB and not allow the composites--wood only--but won't happen, because anything that has the potential to negatively affect scoring will not be considered--although I would argue that the composites are not quite as good for handling passes etc..
I am one of the few guys to still pay with wooden sticks in my adult league--no way am I going to pay $150.00 for hockey stick so some clown can slash me , shatter it, and effectively send the investment down the drain in the first game.. |

Two game 7's Tuesday night, should be awesome. |
Yes, more energy is transferred into the shaft, then on to the puck. It is a significant difference if it works properly.
And yes, it is great to play the game. |
