Hey don't mess with me, I'm one of the good guys.....

porsche4life 03-05-2012 03:37 PM

Ahh yes, right.....

Rick V 03-05-2012 03:39 PM

I see someone has been reading the hand bills I have been stuffing under wiperblades.

GH85Carrera 03-05-2012 03:51 PM

The weather here was great. 72 degrees, clear blue skies and a gentle breeze of only 15 to 20.

porsche4life 03-05-2012 03:53 PM

Seemed like more than that here....

Rick V 03-05-2012 03:53 PM

Trade ya Glen, walked out the house at 34deg and snow this morning and it took us by surprise. Looks like 70's here wed. :)

So I wonder how Dave's push for his pilot's license is going. I think that was one of the big things why he left the thread for a while.

GH85Carrera 03-05-2012 07:41 PM

That would be a good use of time. Expensive but rewarding. Our pilot had a long day. He was at the airport in Oklahoma city bright & early, flew to Baton Rouge LA, flew a project and flew back home.

Porsche-poor 03-05-2012 08:16 PM

just sitting here wondering what I should do next.......................

porsche4life 03-05-2012 08:18 PM

Rub one out?

Porsche-poor 03-05-2012 08:33 PM

so i posted this on the marlin forum, but i know that some of you guys have some experience reloading ammunition, so i am posting here:

so i did my first batch of reloads this evening. i did have one hiccup: the bullets seemed loose in some of the cases. this is odd because i did all the cases as a batch. when i put the bullets in (hornady match BTHP 168 gr. w/moly) some of them were loose enough that i could twist them with my fingers. but not all of them. is this normal/worrisome? they did all seat at the same height, etc.

the moly was annoying. i didn't notice that they were moly bullets until i opened them. really messy.

there was another major hiccup, but i'll just shoot all those primed cases and re-prime them. nothing dangerous. :)

eeh, what kind of press are we talking about here?
single
turret
progressive?

What kind of crimping die do you use?
What kind of crimp did you set (did you measure the good ones vs the bad ones)

svandamme 03-06-2012 01:01 AM

btw, you do realize that moly coated bullets can't use the load data from non moly coated, right?
moly reduces pressures and velocities, so generally you would need more powder to get the same velocities as non moly.

and it will make your non moly bullets fire in odd ways if yer barrel is molied up.
