We had a good time with G and his GF (Stijn too).

G was also kind enough to toss me the keys to his 911 and let me drive, not just around the block, but chasing Stijn from Iepers to Gent.

Thanks again, G!! Sorry about forgetting about the lights. Glad it started.

Thank you again for coming down to Stijn' place and letting me drive your 911! You also have one hell of GF! She's a real keeper!

Grrr. Kind of.

Mrs. Noah and I got married about 9 years ago. We had china on our wedding registry. As we've moved cross-country 3 times since then, we never even unpacked the china from the original boxes. It's been stored in my in-laws' basement. Every year when we go visit them on the East Coast, I bring back a couple boxes in my carry-on bag. Finally we've got all 10 or so sets. And wouldn't you know it, one of these last sets is missing a piece. Looks like someone probably opened the box, may have taken a saucer, and then returned the box to the dept store from where it was purchased. Of course, this was 9+ years ago. This pattern is no longer made by the manufacturer.

On one hand, we haven't missed it for 9 years so it's not a big deal. At the same time, it's certainly irritating that a generous wedding guest (or we, to complete the number of settings ordered) purchased a less-than-complete set at the time. Which I've now got to go track down on ebay or the like.

There are sites online that specialize in china no longer made. Good luck.

We have a set of fancy eating plates, glasses an silverware. In 20 years we have used them maybe a dozen times. Mrs Carrera even purchased an antique china cabinet from the 1800s that was made in Belgium just to store them.

Paper plates are always the same, just sayin'

GH85Carrera 09-16-2012 03:25 PM

I prefer paper plates for most meals!

Rick V 09-16-2012 03:27 PM

They kinda suck after you run them through the dishwasher though

Porsche-poor 09-16-2012 03:41 PM

Thompsons water seal them!!!!

Grrrr! Europe is great, except for Sundays. Everything closes early. No more good beer to be had. Have to raid the mini bar with the crappy Carlsberg beer. Last bar we were at would not sell a couple of bottles to go. Even offered to pay for the redemption value.

GH85Carrera 09-16-2012 03:55 PM

I is always strange that some places make Sunday special for beer sales. Most states restrict alcohol sales on Sundays.

Sounds like Tennessee back in the 80's.

There are more geese on one side because of Bob. Bob is the goose that farts a lot and none of the other geese want to draft him.

Rick V 09-16-2012 03:59 PM

I think things closed on Sunday is a good thing. It forces people to slow down at least one day

GH85Carrera 09-16-2012 04:00 PM

Alabama in the 70s made all stores close. Finally some of the larger grocery stores sued and won the right to be open to sell milk and bread!

Rick V 09-16-2012 04:01 PM

When I grew up in Pa. the blue laws were still in effect.

RKDinOKC 09-16-2012 04:02 PM

There was a hut in the woods in Tennessee that was only open on sunday and moved around between different locations every week.
