I had the pulled pork sandwich this time. Surprisingly very, very good. A good smokey flavor with big chunks of meat, not too much sauce.

hey Max! good to see you. i dont come on here often, either. im at work right now on break.
Tweeze...do you guys have the giant hairy scorpions in the low desert? when i lived on a dry lake bed, id see them...they were about 8-10 inches long. literally looked like lobsters walking around. hmmm, what else? took the ferrari to have an engine out service yesterday. hard to stomach...but the leakdown and compression tests passed with flying colors. no valve job needed. Whew!

Hey Mike. It looks like there is another lady on the thread now, judging by the last few pages. Where are you living now? Ventura area was it? I imagine you still have a job, being an upper-upper ATC guy. There is talk they will close Camarillo and Oxnard and have Pt. Mugu deal with everyone- including the students. I am sure they would love that.

camarillo and oxnard aren't going to close anytime soon. we just had the briefing on that. actually, they were going to close mugu, but that got nixed as well. the 149 towers that are being closed are just contract towers...not staffed by FAA people. they are probably going to lower the facility level on camarillo and oxnard...which means a lot less pay for the controllers there.
im over in granada hills now. how's school going?

School's going well. My GPA for just this quarter was 3.923. My best yet. The FSAE team is really having to rush to get everything built, though so that's not so much fun. I'm spending spring break in the machine shop. Alissa's in New York for break and my other senior project partner just left for Nor Cal today. I have discovered that I do not want to be a machinist. Making a couple of parts is fun, but I don't like spending all day every day in the shop. Fortunately, I do not have to worry about that as I have also discovered that I am not a good machinist. But the experience makes me a better designer so I still see the value in it.

So I bought some CDs: Black Sabbath's Paranoid and David Gilmour's Live in Gdansk. Thinking of getting Bad Company's Bad Co. and also some metal. I youtubed Iron Maiden and I found I liked them. Thinking of getting Piece of Mind. Any other suggestions for metal or hard rock that I should check out before buying?

Oh, I discovered one of my professors used to run Mul back in his youth. Rode a Dunstall Norton back when Malibu Canyon was not clogged with traffic. He mentioned the Rock Store and that got me started.
![]() Another professor got his private pilot license in 2 weeks by flying twice a day and treating it like a 9-5 job. I think he said it cost $7,000. He tought the combustion engines class and had some guest lecturers. One was a 356 guy from around here and Clint and Craig from Rebel Racing know him. He had a 356 Registry shirt on the day of the lecture and I had a shirt with the "2,2" logo from the 1970-1971 911s. The other lecturer was a Dr. of Mechanical Engineering, an A+P mechanic, and certified to sign off on other A+P mechanic's work. Both lecturers were available to talk after class. The second one had some fun stories about rigging the landing gear on his Cessna 310 and 412.

Hey Tweeze!
While I am continuing with the update, I should mention how good it felt to come home last weekend. It was the first time since the Total 911 photoshoot that I had driven my (white) 911 and I got a nice run on both twisty Mulholland and fast Mulholland. It felt so nice to be sitting in the replica RSR shell seats with the steering wheel nice and close and with a floor-hinged clutch pedal under my left foot. On the return on fast Mulholland I stopped to allow some room for me to go faster. I got a rolling start in second and floored it, shifting at about 6500 into third and again at 6500 into fourth, then brake, blip the throttle back into third for the turn, and held third most of the way back through all the flowing ess turns. Oh, how I missed the feeling of driving that car. ![]() I did realize hoe much it pushes in the turns, though. I will be bringing it up to San Luis Obispo for an autocross at the Santa Maria Porsche 991 launch track and I think I will try disconnecting the front anti-sway bar and seeing how that feels. Really it needs bigger rear torsion bars to match the fronts and to even out the pitch under braking compared to the body roll in turns. Currently running 22mm front and 27mm rear torsion bars and 22mm anti-sway bars front and rear.

Morning!
Yep it's Thursday or as I like to call it "close enough". Yes, you don't look your age at all, tweeze. What a gift ![]() My 2-9 is in two weeks. It shouldn't be but, birthdays for me are officially depressing. Last edited by Jferr006; 03-28-2013 at 03:02 AM.. |

About six months before Beth turned fifty, she lost it, she had a several month long melt down, it was not good at all.
She wretched up all kinds of stuff from the past, and was generally a stark raving lunatic with a rolling depression. Being able to write my name in the snow, I just don't get it, age is just a number.

Ages and stages..lots of women go through an adjustment after a stage comes to a close and a new one begins. For me Im just hanging on to my 20's for dear life. I don't feel older most of the time but, I feel like others will suddenly notice I'm not a 20-something ..Like I just won't look or act like one anymore. It's irratinal nonsense (I hope). I know I shouldn't care about what others think but, I dont want to be the chick that evevryone is looking at like, "um she needs to stop thinking like a college kid and trying to act cool, she's old". That and there's the my babies aren't babies anymore and I'm not ever going to have a baby again thing.....
It's complicated.

Good Morning folks.
Max good to see ya back. I bought the Montrose CD the other day. I had the album back when it came out in 1972. It is a great album. Check it out. Bad Motor Scooter is a favorite of mine.

I remember my 20s. No aches and pains and eat all I could and stay skinny with no effort. I remember waking up in my new house on my 26th birthday. I was single and had my own home but I was suddnely deep in debt I could not afford to date much. Women are the most expensive hobby a guy can have. By the time I bought a washer & dryer fridge, and some second hand furniture I had less than a $100 cash. I lived paycheck to paycheck. Utility costs and food sucked up most of my money. Fortunatly my 914 was paid for and cheap to operate. I sure do like the financial security of my 50s better. I have a job I enjoy and now that my hip is replaced I have no real aches and pains.
